I just want to clear up a few misconceptions in this thread.
The "digital" on/off nature to the discharge sound that is heard when our spacer is used is solely as a result of the fact that the valve system is electronically controlled, and remains open venting pressure until a digital signal abruptly closes it cutting off the sound.
The reason the spacer works without causing any issues, is because of the fact that we created a component that retains the OEM valve's electronic control features, and maintain that the ECU can control how the valve operates, so the sound that is heard is a byproduct of the factory valve's operation and not of anything that we do to change that.
Even when using an aftermarket intake, which are all less acoustically restrictive than the stock airbox and filter and don't muffle the sound as much, the same digital on/off "airbrake" or "long wided fart" sound results, but no one seems to complain about it as much because its not quite as loud as using the spacer.
When using our full replacement valve and the spacer together, the sound is still digital to a degree, but a little bit less so. Because of the fact that a mechanical valve is the main component of the setup, there is a little more of a "curve" to the sound, with a louder initial discharge and more of a tapering effect to the sound throughout the duration of the venting, but the electronic solenoid that controls the pressure/vacuum signals will still change rather abrubptly as the ECU sends the unmodified signals telling the valve to open or close.
Despite the MAF-based engine management system used on these engines, our spacer does NOT cause any issues whatsoever based on many months of development and testing prior to ever releasing the product as well as having sold thousands of units worldwide to be installed on numeorus applications from stock to heavily modified. The engine management is less sensitive to whether the discharged air is vented or recirculated than an older 1.8T engine for instance. We have extensively data logged and even dyno tested the unit and have found no evidence of any detrimental side effects whatsoever. No one else who seems to claim that the spacer causes problems has been able to provide us any with evidense of such issues either, so until that happens, I'll have to fervently declare that it can be used safely and we will continue to offer an unlimited lifetime warranty and moneyback guarantee on it.
