    Brakes Questions!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello,

I need to replace the front rotors and pads on my 2000 S4. The problem is I have no idea what to do with this brake set up. I've done hundreds of brake jobs but don't know where to start with this job. Can someone please post a step by step for replacing rotors. Searched and can't find what I'm looking for.

Also the connector for the sensored pad was cut off (wires showing). The pads I'm putting in aren't sensored but I was wondering how to disable this so I don't have my brake light on anymore. Any ideas? Thanks

Yea that covers the pads but not the rotors. How do I take apart the caliper and stuff holding the rotor on?

    Re: Brakes Questions!!

There are two 22mm bolts securing the caliper to the knuckle. They will more than likely be tight so be sure to use lots of PB Blaster (also pre-soaking where the disc meets the hub). Once the caliper is out of the way, get out a hammer and start beating on the disc since it will prob be seized to the hub.

    Re: Brakes Questions!!

They are 18 mil. IMO the best and easy way to get them off is to hit them with the inpact gun, it took me about 1 hour for left and right pads and rotor swap out, also I tq the bolts back into place with 90 foot pounds of TQ , it helps to put anti sze on the bolts as well. this is how i did mine hop,e it helps you out

Make sure you have a rubber mallet to beat the crap out of the rotor to make it unsieze from the hub.
