    034 motorsports snub and bracket?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I finally got around to installing the apikol snub and also the bracket that 034 motorsports sells specifically for the apikol snub mount. My question is to any of you that has actually purcased this same bracket and have installed it, is vibration at idle common. I have already done the adjustments suggested in several other threads by leaving the bolts loose, letting the car idle and then tighten everything down. Any insight would be appreciated, thanks....

I just installed mine on the stock bracket and it is mint. it literally took me 5 min to take apart and install. no vibration. It barely fits in the O-ring bracket on the bumper so I just centered it. maybe you have other warn out mounts somewhere. It definitely works because the clunk that i got when I downshifted is tight and firm now.

Re: 034 motorsports snub and bracket?

Dude, I'm having the exact same issues. Just put in the snub, engine mounts (Track Density), and Tranny Mount (Track Density). It is vibrating like crazy. I even told the shop how to do it, but this is also the same shop that replaced the diverter valve by cutting off the original audi hose clamps and did not bother to clamp the hoses to the new 034 valve. Needless to say, the hose to the turbo blew off within about 100yds of the shop. They fixed it, and didn't charge me for the original work, so they are stand-up guys, but they have no clue about forced induction systems or audis for that matter.

I'm going to take it back in a day or so to have them loosen up the bolts, idle it, and then tighten it back down to spec. I don't know if they even torqued them to spec when they put them it, so I'll probably have to get the specs and get under the car with them to ensure they are completing all the steps.

God I wish I had a nice garage with my own lift! I could easily do all this crap myself without teaching the people who supposedly do this for a living!

By the way, the guys at 034 are very helpful. Spoke with Lazlo (Laci) over the phone, and he was very helpful. It's nice to work with a vendor ran by enthusiasts.

You are going to notice more vibrations because the housing is much smaller and makes contact with the snub mount all the time.

This is exactly what I figured since the snub does maintain 100% full contact with the new bracket as compared to the OE oval shapped bracket. I was just a little concerned that I would be feeling that much vibration. I can feel it through the seat obvisouly and the side mirrors shake as well. Funny thing is that it sounds as if I have aftermarket mufflers or something put on the car because after I put on the new snub and bracket the tone as changed, I know this is from the vibration and this was another one of my concerns. I was wondering if this is normal and if so will it damage anything from the additional vibrations.

if it is touching the cup full time, something is wrong... it seems several others have had a similar problem. some didnt use the bracket and others shaved down the snub... yet others have had it line up perfect..i know in my car, i wouldnt be able to make it work.. the snub would rub

I used to run the billet version they had, it isn't on the car anymore but when it was the snub was a very tight fit into the billet housing. For the last year I have been running a Stern snub in the stock housing, but my engine doesn't move at all seeing that I run all solid engine/tranny mounts and have zero vibrations because my engine is fully balanced to 1 gram and run a great tune. A unbalanced engine/tune are the #1 cause fore the vibrations people feel.
