Test fitted the LM's today and had a few problems(PICS)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I test fitted the wheels today and as I expected there were some problems. The wheel hit the front brake. There was about 1/3 of an inch of gap because the wheel is hitting the brake. Could someone please let me know what kind of spacers that I need to run these. Also, would you think I would need to buy longer bolts if i get spacers? Please let me know what I need to make these fit. I obviously know I need tires. I need to have these on by the time H2O rolls around.

    The wheel specifications are:
    18x8
    5x112
    38mm Offset
    66.6mm center bore

1/3 of an inch would be roughly 7 or 8mm i think? because 1/4in is 6.35mm. get some 10mm spacers that come with lugs and you should be ok.

those look like ALT Tangent wheels to me,not LM's...but i could be wrong.

Can I run spacers on just the front wheels or do I need spacers for the rears as well even thought they fit fine?

I love those wheels! They are the exact ones I want to get someday.

Yeah I'd put spacers all the way around too. I would look funny having the front stick out more then the rear

Do you know weight comparison to stock wheels with your new rims?

I think the weight of these is 24lbs each. The stock wheels feel like they weight a ton compared to these but of course there are tires on the stock wheels.

I had the same issue. I had LM Reps. And they sucked. I rean 8mm spacers all around. Looked sweet. I also got longer lugs. Major issue with running spacers in the front espically 8mm if you have coils or run lower you will rub. I ruined my front fender from rubbing also shredded my tires up pretty good. I sold them cause Of that very issue. God sick of the headache.

You have to run at least an 8mm spacer up front. I ran 10mm all around on my setup.

    Then longer wheel bolts.

Was it rubbing in the fronts only? Were your fenders rolled?

I was looking at your pic's and I noticed that it looks like you only have that one big jack holding up the side of the car. To me that doesnt look very safe. I'd get some jack stands so its more stable. Wouldn't want to see you get injured or hurt the car from falling off the jack.

i just bought some myself... i have 15mm spacers up front 20 in back... they fit fine with plenty of room... make sure you order hub centric spacers, longer lugs, and you will be golden... they are gonna run you around $300

call stasis and ask them if they have any sort of fitment diagram OR ask people with your brakes how much wider they are than hp2s.. they might actually be close to the same clearance. my .02

oh and those wheels will look legit with som 10+mm spacers

H&R spacers do the trick quite well and the larger ones should come with lugs.

Fairly inexpensive too. I'm sure you can get a set (and some tires) before the next DIY day.

My fenders were not rolled and I only rubbed in teh front. But it was a very bad rub. Pulled my fender apart. I have a Stasis Set up..I don't run sper low either. I never got them to run right on my set up. Just was not worth it.

Its not unusual to have to roll the fenders with spacers and aftermarket suspension. Unfortunately it's just the name of the game.

I have those wheels on my b5 a4 and i run a 5mm spacer in the front and a 10mm in the rear from the looks of it you'll probably need a 10mm all around as far as lugs just add 10mm to your factory lugs and find one close to that size and you'll be fine

It looks like you are still running your stock suspension. You may be able to run spacers with no rubbing, only until you lower it.

those ARE ALT Tangents, I used to be in the wheel business and sold them, I know ALT well.

The other sign is the box they came in, that is what they use for replica wheels.

Get a stud conversion so much easier and you don't have to deal with lug bolt lengths.

You also need a hubcentric spacer made as the hub on those wheels is 66.56 and our cars are 57.1mm.

I am not sure where you are in the country I am in SoCall call Junior at Motorsport Technology and they can make you a set for under $200 probably. www.motorsport-tech.com
