Ran into a small problem. Need some suggestions...

Broke the damn thing right off. Kinda surprising cause I didn't think I was abusing it but do tend to hang on the shifter a bit around corners. Whatever.

Budget is VERY tight right now so I'm looking for a temp replacement of sorts...even trying to avoid the $80 Momo knobs and whatnot. I'd prefer something of the perforated variety but that might be too much to ask.

Already STFA here and AW... any thoughts?

Found this guy on eBay. Might pull the trigger.

Now I'm thinking a heavy knob would be a nice compliment to the Strat SSK. Budget be damned.

AFter I installed the shortshifter in my car I just slid the knob back on and never clamped it down. If you dont pull on the shifter, it doesnt come off. Mine has been like this for over a year, and I've never had to pop off.

You shouldn't be hanging onto the shifter, pressing against it while its engaged is bad for the transmission. You really shouldn't even rest your hand on the shifter while driving.

Oh yeah, mine did the same and I couldn't stand it. So I secured it with a screw-down clip... which I'm fairly certain is the culprit here.

And you make a very good point... I need to break that habit. I'm tall and have long arms. It's just kinda how I fit in the car. ;-]

Balls. That sucks man. If I can source one for you, I'll send it over. I'm going aftermarket now for sure. My shifts are a bit knotchy so something with a bit more weight is in order. This is my front runner right now:

But I might go with something a bit smaller that's still weighted. It's turning into a fun little research project.

Also, I found some great options here... some of which are very inexpensive, although I don't know what shipping would be like.

You never know... maybe someone else needs it. Thanks for chiming in. Looks like this is the first impromptu meeting of the Broken Audi Shift-Knob Conglomerate.

Thanks for the offer but i'll be patient until I can find the same one. Do you know if all i need is the knob? is it possible to put a clip on the shaft to hold up the shift boot to the knob?
