What would it take to get 500 AWHP, and still be safe and reasonably reliable? Prices and part list would be ideal. Can you do it on RS6 Ko4's?

I did I got nothing. Plenty on 400 AWHP, and plenty on 600 AWHP, but none on 500 AWHP.

    derp de derp de derp.

rs6s are perfect for this power level.

you will definitely need to upgrade some internals and your heads to be safe and to be able to get good flow for these levels of power.

    this can get expensive though

    Re: 500 AWHP

All depends on who's 500whp/dyno you look at... Theres no safe, reliable, bullet proof, cheap solution.. Whats there is are a bunch of steps you need to do when looking to achieve this power level.. Most people have no idea how much a true 500whp car feels like, this is a ton of power and the term gets used so loosely around here like it's common to see... Now we've seen some claimed 500whp cars that can't/haven't ran mid 120mph and can barely run 3.5 fat times, then we've seen vast 509whp car run 134mph the first time out...

My point is which 500whp are you looking for because theres a very big difference?

    Re: 500 AWHP

I'm talking about the legitimate one. As far as RS6 hybrids go which hybrids are you talking about?

As far as internals go what would you want to upgrade to keep the engine reliable as possible? Rods, pistons, seals, cam? Also would it be more cost effective and more logical to simply bore out the 2.7 to a 2.8 or 3.0(can't remember which one I have seen)? If you are going to replace pistons and rods anyways why not just go the extra step and have a larger displacement? Then slap some RS6 turbos on. Would that net 500 AWHP? If you did this what would be the needed extras (hardware) to go with the set-up? Has anyone heard of anyone doing something like this?

    Re: 500 AWHP

nope just you, do they even make parts for a bigger bore s4 motor . I was pretty sure it was impossible...

you really need to search man. You can buy a built 3.0l block if you want.

    Re: 500 AWHP

Eurocode ran a 2.8 liter motor. Anything can be accomplished if you have the pockets for it.

I would stick with the 2.7, maybe do a 2.8 head and some rods.

Just tryin to brainstorm possible ways. So What would be the cheapiest way to go? How about most reliable? Is all you need for an RS6 set-up the turbos, rods, intake, and piping?

lets talk about your budget first, what is it? Between K04s and RS6s or any other bigger turbo, your talking a difference of ~$5k at least

All wrenching done by myself and my brother-in-law who is an audi tech, and under 15k so GT's are out. I was thinking more along the lines of RS6.

RS6s may be your best option. Even if you have your brother-in-law building this stuff is extremely expensive.

I dnt wanna sound like a asshole but to get 500whp...or definately 500 reliable whp is a very expensive and extensive process in any car so unless your making this thread cuz you got your credit car out and your ready to buy all the shit you'd need on the spot then its kinda useless to have every1 make a mods list...if your were talking about 3-450hp thats easily possible, not so expensive, and there are a lot people doing it with good expierience behind it...the fact that your asking whats the CHEAPEST way to hit 500 is not even worth asking because cheap is the last word that would be used in a 500hp process and personally should be the last thing your even thinking when building an audi cuz the cheap way is ussually the broken way

    Re: 500 AWHP

o n the list every1 has given you for parts under the hood is jsut the half of it..transmission work, clutch flywheel, gears/syncros, axels, rear ends, suspension and about 2g's in brakes alone are all on the list as well

    Re: 500 AWHP

the drivetrain can hold 500whp, your just gonna need a good clutch+ resurface the stock flywheel, mounts, probally some maintenance....if your shootin for 500whp then replace the oil pump, seals etc. its not cheap by any means, like spool said to take it from 400 to 500 is a huge jump in terms of cost

    Re: 500 AWHP

I say cheapest because I don't want people giving me fluff that isn't really necessary.

This project is going to be spread out over about a year to a year and a half. Not everything is going to be done at once, and many if not most of the parts are going to be parts that my brother-in-law's shop has lying around aka free. The only money I am going to have to spend is to send a few of them out to get rebuilt. And even then Its going to his guy that does all of it (I don't know who, so don't ask). Again very discounted. I know I'm going to have to buy some things, but I can already cross turbos, intake, exhaust, tune, clutch, pressure plate, rods, heads, pistons, and a few smaller things like tbb, dv, etc.

As said before I'm going to do this in stages, preferably something along the lines of everything short of pulling the motor which is when I would do turbos, fuel, internals, heads, clutch, that sort of thing. I would do all bolt-ons first.

What else do I need for this project and is my timetable reasonable?

ok well if your going to do it in stages, buy a spare block, build it with a new rear main, front main, crank bolt, rod bearings, main bearings, pistons (if you want new ones), etc etc...

Then get your manifolds/turbos and slap them on so you can just pull your motor and put that new one in. Thats probably your best option. Hell, even strap some 2.8 heads on so the complete motor is just swapping the wiring harness and cooling system

I was thinking about that because I know he has an old blown engine. IDK whats wrong with it though.
