    Re: downpipe question / warranty

I got piggies and my car whent in for the almost 50k check up..no one was any the wiser..when I asked the Tech about doing exhaust mods to the car and warranty all he would say is if they see certain stuff they are allowed to void the warranty....It seems to be different from dealer to dealer but in the end I got the performance and the Warranty is not a issue

    Re: downpipe question / warranty

The real question is whether or not you can afford potentially thousands of dollars in repairs that otherwise would have been covered under warranty. If so, then there's not a problem. If not - then you should probably wait.

Downpipes on the RS4 a complete and total waste of money. $2000-$5000 for the pipes, $400-800 for labor to install them, and exactly ZERO hp gain. Spend the money on Stasis SL suspension instead.
Current Fleet: Porsche 718 Spyder * Audi S5 Sportback * Audi RS5 Sportback
    On order: Audi RSQ8 Performance

what exactly would the DPs do that would void warranty and make the owner liable for thousands of dollars of repairs?

My point is this - IF anything were to be done to a vehicle to void the warranty - ANYTHING - then you must be prepared to spend the cash. Not saying the DPs would do that.

It's still a question that everyone needs to ask themselves.

Exactly! don't do dp's on the RS4. The stockers are good enough.

the funniest thing is, after i posted that i remembered an issue i had with anchor audi (dealer)... they blamed a broken/cracked vaccuum line for the brake booster on a downpipe/exhaust system. lol. they would not warranty the part bc i had aftermarket downpipe.

But they didn't void the entire engine warranty for future issues? You gotta be happy about that.

Yeah, some people have blown the cats on their DP's which means you gotta pay for new ones verus stock which would be covered.

I had DP's and my dealer did not have an issue with them.....

Hmmm...I guess it all depends on the dealership, then. Mine is cool with mods except when it comes to replacing the cats. My service advisor told me that is one of the few things that would void warranty.

My sales person and his boss said the only way they would void my warranty is chipping, didn't mention about Cats, DP's or lowering the car....
Chip...that is why bought the car.
So far I have had 2 tune up and no fuss.
