Clutch started to slip.... Looking for a new one

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My clutch started to slip crazy today, so I need a new one. What do you guys recomend. Mods are APR Stage 1+, TP, and thats about it motor wise. Might go K04, so need something that will work with that, and stand up to the abuse on the track. Thanks

You can resurface your old flywheel (assuming it's not damaged) which is free with purchase of clutch.

mine did the same thing... slipped it on a launch... it slipped all the way home and even over the next day or two, but i drove it super easy for about a week, my flywheel finally came in on friday so on the way home a 3.0 a4 wanted to race and i figured why not, i have all my stuff at the house and i was going to start pulling apart the next day... but i punched it and it held.. smoked the 3.0 too !

i went with the FE SS (stage 5 i think) they all use the same SS pressure plate so effort isnt any different but if you like to launch it, i would get the FE SS... im very happy with it and even my 115lb wife learned to drive it without any trouble

i can launch it and break all four loose (not for long though) very nice, it would be much mo funner with a k04 or bt

I'd reccomend Stage 4 for the KO4 setup, since it puts so much torque down...

Stage 3 OFE - Organic/Feramic-lined Disc - With modified OE pressure plate (325ft/lbs rated)

Stage 4 OFE - Organic/Feramic-lined Disc (same as Stage 3) - Uses a "Sachs Sport" SS pressure plate instead of a modified OE plate. Gives an extra 700-800lbs more clamping force over the Stage 3 OE plate...(rated at ~450ft/lbs)

Stage 5 FE - Feramic/Feramic-lined Disc. Uses the same Stage 4 SS pressure plate. Feramic/Feramic allows more holding power, and will take a much better abuse than an organic lining. Engagement will be just a BIG more "grabby", but still 100% streetable. (rated at 500-550ft/lbs).

My recommendation would be to go with at least a Stage 4, for the SS pressure plate will truely "wake up" the car by lowering the engagement point (not at top like the OE), as well as make the pedal about 25-30% stiffer... just enough to give you the "sporty" feel w/out putting your leg to sleep in traffic.

I am a South Bend dealer if anybody needs SB products.

If you plan on resurfacing and reusing your flywheel, I would try to minimize the slippage at this point. The last thing you want is for the rivets on the worn disc to eat up the surface of the flywheel (like running worn brake pads eating up rotors).
