I need help please!!! with tire size
Ok, I have at-italia wheels, their 19x9.5 (all 4 rims). I am not sure what off set they are and i dont know how to find out. did many searches and found nothing.

    now to the help part.

I need to buy tires and i dont know what size to buy. I have a audi a 4 b6 3.0l and I'm in the process of putting coilover (pss9's) on the car and by the way its not that easy... so what size tires should i get? im scared of rubbing? but if its not a great amount of rubbing then i dont care. please any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Harry

from what i know there is no freakin way a 235 will fit on a 9.5 inch...i have rs4 my stock wheels are 9in with 255 and they seemed stretch...orderd hre 19x9.5 and i orderd 265 width then was instructed by my car shop to go with a 275 width and 30 height so 19x275x30...

You can probably go with a 245/35/19, a 235 might fit but clearly it would be stretched. I had stretch on a 235/35/19 with an 8.5 in. wide wheel. The 245's might stretch a little bit they'll fit better, and it's hard to say whether or not you'll rub without knowing the offset but that's a pretty wide wheel for an A4, so I'd be willing to bet with a 245 you'll rub but who knows how much.

    235 stretched on a 8.5??
Thats what im running right now and I have absolutely NO stretch.
I'd say you need at least a 245 with that rim width.
Good luck cuz with that width you have a greater chance of rubbing.

you guys realize that different tire companies make different sized tires (even thought they both might say 235)

Yes. I was running Michelin PS2's and Pirelli Pzero Neros and the PS2's were more stretched than the nero's, but they were both stretched a little. Although I've run into some people who say that that wasn't even close to stretched, to me, it seemed stretched. My 245's have basically a perfectly straight up sidewall, and those are Nitto Invo's.

But the point is that even with the differences in sizing, generally the two different brand 235 width tires aren't going to be THAT different. At least from what I've seen.

Like ngng said, different tires will be different sizes even though they say they're 235's. Sessanta's are supposed to be a "true" 235 from what I've heard, which is probably why you have no stretch.

Still dont see how you're going to get a stretch from a 235mm tire on a 8.5 wheel. I'd like to see a side by side comparison with different tires on the same wheels.

I ran 235-35-19 on a 9.5 wheel and did not like the looks of it, I then switched to 245-35-19 and was much happier.

will 235 35 fit on a 9.5 inch rim. 9.5 inch rim all around sounds crazy but i have the rims and i have the rims and i have to make it happen. I really dont want to buy other rims and get stuck with these rims....

    Thank you

    Harry,

If you have a B6 A4 then why did you get 9.5" wide wheels? As it is, you are going to be lowering the car. There is a good chance that 9.5" wide wheels won't fit at all. They just barely fit on an RS4 with 1" wider fender flares. Personally, if there is any way for you to ditch these wheels, I would ditch them or you will end up in trouble and will end up wasting a lot of money in the long run to get everything working/fitting properly. You want 18x8.5" wheels with 235/40/18 tires. That will be perfect.

Slow down! You need to relax and take your time on this or else your gonna be tossin away some cash.

1st: find out the offset of the wheels. If you can't read it on the wheels, espressed as an "ET" number then place the wheel face down on the ground. next take a long ruler or something straight and lay it across the back of the wheel, like you are making a bridge from one end of the wheel to the other.

Next measure the distance from the wheel mating surface to the bottom of the bridge.

    Time to do some calculations:

    1. You have a 9.5" wheel so 1/2 of that will be 4.75".

    2. Take the number that you measured and subtract 4.75" off of that.

    3. What you are left with is your positive (+) offset.

    4. You are going to need an offset of at least a +45 for a 9.5" wheel to fit your car and I am not sure on inside clearance, just fender clearance. Optimum for fender clearance on a B6 body would be a +51, but anywhere in between a +45 and a +51 should work. You could still run into inside rubbing issues against suspension components.

If you don't have it, don't go any purchase tires for these wheels.

BTW, the smallest tire that you should put on this wheel is a 255 but i can already tell you that it isn't going to work.

Cut your losses, dump the project, and start over. It'll save you money in the long run.

Last but not least, the word "know" is spelt "now" and the way that you are using the word "their" is spelt "they're". It's just a little FYI for you in case English is not your 1st language.

    Disagree.

9" wheels (I'm running 19x9s) are perfect with a 245/35/19. I have just a tiny bit of stretch, and no rubbing now that I have my suspension dialed in.

What's the difference here. 8.5" with a 235 = 9" with a 245. They should stretch and fit about the same.

More tread (slightly) and a better looking setup, especially with an aggressive offset.

Are you originally from the UK? Because I have not met an American (I'm from the US) who intentionally says or uses "spelt" instead of "spelled".

    Just curious.

Sorry B Spot, I misunderstood your reply. I thought you were comparing wheel to tire relationship in general. You're right on the fact that a 245 on a 9" would be better than 235's on an 8" as there is more patch on the road.

Interesting Mate! Didn't really think about it. Am I wrong in saying it that way?
