    Question on removing downpipes?

Because I felt like torchering myself on this beautiful Saturday afternoon.

I decided to remove my downpipes and do my piggies.

i have everything disconnected except for the clamps that hold the rear exhaust to the downpipes. these are the original clamps and are rusted bad.

I dont have a torch and the nuts will not come off, they just strip. So I was wondering if I can just pull the entire exhaust when removing the dp's then hacksaw the clamps off the new to be piggies to separate the rear exhaust from the piggies with the exhaust off the car?

Anyone who has removed their exhaust feel free to chime in with what they did.

Its supper time now so gives me a chance to gain my sanity and be ready to go at it again this evening.

    Hope someone can reply

    Thanks

You'd be better off just using a dremel with a cutter wheel or a sawzall to cut the clamp bolts now and just take the clamp off. You can usually get the new bolts/nuts at any hardware store. Just get stainless to avoid future rustage.

    That makes sense

But would it be easier to take entire exhaust system off, then cut the bolts with the exhaust system off?

You're gonna need a grinder to get those clamps off it sounds like.

Just use a dremel and cut off the bolts, not the entire clamp. And no, it wouldn't be easier to remove the entire CB, there are a number of hangers.

Yeah too late, I just cut the entire clamp off. The bolts were hard to get to - both were turned to the inside and couldn't get the grinder cutting wheel to the bolt to cut off so I just cut the clamp off, they are cheap
