    Re: VMR Boost Gauge Install

need some help!!. what did you guys use to tap for power. I am following the instructions on ecs and the red and blue already on the vent is what i am tapping into. I am running the red to th red and the black the blue. The vmr gauge has a red, black and green wire. When i test fitted it and tried it I got no light to the gauge, but the adjustable vent knob still lit up red after the splice so I know it is getting power.

    Someone please provide insight!!!

    Re: VMR Boost Gauge Install

I was able to get power to it, but i cant get the vaccum line through the firewall. The directions that are provided by vmr are for an automatic car and they show where to push it through but i have a 6 speed and that rubber gromet is not there.

Use these instructions on how to route the vacuum line through the firewall. Easiest way to do it.

if anyone has installed a gauge with a 6 speed let me know how you routed the vacuum line. I really didnt care to pull the ecu, nor take the wheel well out. Thanks for any help provided.

I have a 6-speed, I don't see why you're making this so difficult. You don't "take the wheel well out".

Follow those directions I posted. You take the driver's side front wheel off, look...you'll see the grommets. It's that simple. Take the wheel off...that's all.

    Re: VMR Boost Gauge Install

Under the steering wheel (deep up and behind the pedals) feel around and there is a little rubber circle, you can poke out the rubber circle with no cutting. One problem with this though is that every once in a while when it rains really hard I can feel water dripping slightly. This is by far the easiest ways to get through the firewall.

    Re: VMR Boost Gauge Install

If you don't have a rubber grommet there, you can also route the vacuum hose through the area where the large red power line/wire goes through to the engine bay. It is in the same rough general area.

I also discovered this after working on a manual car.

Also, I check my e-mails constantly, even when I am not in the office, so feel free to e-mail me if you guys ever have any questions or if you need help.

Well i thought myself and fellow audziners were getting a good deal on the gauge until I saw this on ebay.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-...spagenameZWDVW

Charging us 20 more than if you bought it on ebay. I thought vmr was cutting us a deal but they werent kinda b.s. if you ask me.

Look at the ebay ad. It recently just went up. We are lowering the prices on the vent gauges. I need to go through and revise my old threads and make new ones with the adjusted prices. I've been busy putting up the ebay ads and haven't had time to make the threads on here and the various other forums we are on.

    Don't make assumptions.

You would think that "introductory" price would be cheaper for a limited time and then the price would increase. However, I understand the laws of supply and demand and if VMR can sell it for cheaper... More power to them! They already have my $150 and I'm a satisfied customer. So, no complaints from me!

Look at it this way. If they keep coming out with less expensive quality parts (like the test pipe that they just released), they might be able to influence the market and make all aftermarket parts more affordable for all of us!

No need to take off wheel or anything like that. I left my rubber grommet in there but i just burned a hole through it with a soldering iron so that it still blocks everything out. The vacuum hose is snug in the hole and the rubber grommet still does its job!

Just think of it as a way to thank you our previous customers and support on the forums :) Instead of raising the prices up, after the introductory price, we just decided to lower it even more. Let me know if any one has any problems with that, and I can give you a higher price, if that makes you feel better, haha. Just kidding.

We've lowered prices on our test pipes and boost gauges. So let me know if you guys have any questions about any of our products.

    thanks.

yaya im not making assumptions but it did say retail price of 199 and introductory price of 149.99. so after that shouldnt it go back to 199. Whatever I dont care I am happy with the product i just wish i would have waited longer and saved myself 20 bucks since it took awhile to receive my gauge because the order wasnt processed the first time anyway...
