    Need Help Identifying Problem

Ok, so this started last night and it continues today. I have my suspicions on what the problem might be but I wanted to see what you guys thought also.

When i slightly push the clutch pedal in, i feel a VERY heavy vibration coming through the pedal on my foot. This started randomly, and at times the vibration is stronger than others.

What do you guys think it is? I appreciate everyone's help!

Is there any noise associated with this?

    Re: Need Help Identifying Problem

cold be a throw out bearing but usually you can hear it. is there any vibration when the clutch is engaged? if you just rest your foot on the pedal?

I wonder if it's not a pressure plate or flywheel issue.......

    idle is smooth?

    Re: Need Help Identifying Problem

I would have someone qualified check it out ASAP. Vibrations in the drivetrain can be very contagious very quickly. you do not need to take any additional parts out because of one problem.

trust me, i know first hand. the previous owner of my car drove it for 6000 miles with a bad center driveshaft bearing and i had to replace the driveshaft and rear diff seal, and my center diff was toast. dumba$$. anyhow, good luck and keep us posted!

    Re: Need Help Identifying Problem

Sounds Like the throw out bearing, should feel it through the pedal w/ foot lightly resting on pedal. I think the springs on the pressure plate can break which would cause a problem but I would expect noise to accompany this.

    Re: Need Help Identifying Problem

i just had this happen on my A4. i've had stuff like this happen on many other cars. on mine i'm guessing i broke a finger or two on the pressure plate. i have the pulse in the pedal.....and a judder on initial start........and shifting is harder indicating the clutch is not fully disengaging.

yours is probably throwout bearing or broken finger.

    Re: Need Help Identifying Problem

Vibration is contagious and causes premature wear on any connected parts. the end.

It may not affect the clutch material but IMO any vibration in the drivetrain should be dealt with as swiftly as your wallet will allow. good luck
