***NOW SHIPPING*** A.W.E. Tuning Mechanical Diverter Valve Kit for 2.0T

    Hi Folks,

As you all know, the current factory DV is *still* a problematic design.

We've seen too many of these DVs fail no matter if running a big turbo, stock, or any power level in between.

Meanwhile, we've been doing extensive power development on late model Porsches, and DV failure on some of these models has been 100% absent.

Even when pushed to beyond 750hp, and no matter the climate or operating environment, we've yet to see one of these Porsche DVs fail.

It was a lot of leg work, but we were able to get exclusive access to this part, as it is normally not available separately from the turbo unit.

We were able to adapt it to the 2.0T engine via some clever and simple companion parts, and we're thrilled to be able to offer this economical yet durable solution to the chronic DV issue.

    Some highlights:

Direct 1/2 hour bolt on with no permanent modifications to vehicle

    No Check Engine Light

Very similar response time to the OEM electronic valve

Extensively street, track, and dyno tested on multiple cars

Priced at $129.95 for the complete kit

In stock, and ready to ship!

Re: ***NOW SHIPPING*** A.W.E. Tuning Mechanical Diverter Valve Kit for 2.0T

I have gotten quite a few messages asking questions about our new Diverter Valve Kit. Thought I would share a few of the more common/interesting ones along with the answers to them.

How does it sound in comparison to the stock DV?
It will sound very similar to the stock DV.

Are there any noticable implications of this not being ECU controlled like the Forge product ?...actually hoping it doesn't vent at low rpm/low load conditions like oem does !
In normal driving situations you will not notice any difference between our DV Kit and the stock unit. Our unit will sound and react very similar to the stock unit.

The factory ecu has many safeguards built into it for various conditions, one of them being overboost. With electronically controlled valves, if the ecu senses overboost, it can open the DV valve to vent boost as a safeguard. Since our DV kit is completely mechanical, the ecu will not be able to control it in this situation, however the ecu has many more safeguards built in to prevent overboost. If it cannot open the DV valve for some reason, it will also automatically close the throttle, which will cause vacuum in the manifold and force our DV open. The DV is simply the first safeguard in place for this situation, however the car has many more safeguards in place.

However, this is assuming that the stock DV is not already torn and malfunctioning, which happens pretty often!

Why do you call it Mechanical? Is it mechanical like the forge or is it a diaphram design like the stock one? Also what is the response like compared to stock?

There are various designs for mechanical diverter valves. Some, like Forge, are a piston style unit, while ours uses a diaphragm.

Our design uses a diaphragm, but it is still a mechanical unit. It is vacuum actuated, meaning it will open whenever there is vacuum in the manifold. It is not controlled by the ecu.

The response is incredibly similar to stock. We were unable to tell a difference in response time between the two units when driving around normally. Once we did some testing with our scantool we were able to measure a difference of a few milliseconds between stock and our DV kit. Nothing that you will ever be able to notice.

The cap you see is not a GM part. It is manufactured by Borg Warner; the company that produces turbos for many OEMs including VW, Audi, Porsche, GM and Mercedes. They use the cap on a variety of turbo applications, from the units used on the 997TT to the ones used on the Pontiac Solstice GXP.

should be fine really as long as the diaphragm holds up ... essentially the same (functionally) as the other mechanical DV conversion kits & for much less.

if i was a betting person id put my money on this; you guys probably bought the valve for ~60 bucks wholesale replaced the spring (which is weak) on the original application then resold it.

Guess it's a good thing you're not a betting person.

We use a Porsche part, which is a different part number from the GM unit (which FYI retails for ~$82, not $60).

They work on the same concept, but use a different spec and the Porsche spec works very nicely in all the VAG cars we have adapted it to.

The diaphragm has proven itself on the street, track and dyno in 750+ hp applications. It will take whatever you can throw at it.
