Since February, I've been searching for a shop that can help me with all aspects of my car (parts, custom tuning, outstanding customer service, etc) and I just couldn't find a shop that could meet all of my needs. I will admit that I'm rather particular as I've had some bad experiences in the past. While my search took quite a few months, it was well worth the wait. When I first bought my car (already was Stage 3), it came with AWE OTS programming. OTS is decent, but not anywhere near its full potential. I was in desperate need of a shop who could custom tune my car.
Enter Avalon Motorsports. I'm not sure if they've publically announced it yet, but they can now do custom tuning for just about any VAG application! I'm not sure if you guys remember my Stage III AWE OTS logs from a few months ago or not, but they were not that impressive (IATs were high, car was running rich, FATS were mid 4s.) - and to a certain extent, that's to be expected at our altitude. I've been working with Brian and crew at Avalon to custom tune my car. I don't want to post any logs yet, because they've only done some preliminary tuning, but with that said, WOW! The IATs are under control now, the a/f ratio is looking much better, and the car pulls noticeably harder now. Again, they're not even done tuning it, yet! I'm not going to post any logs until they've got a "final" tune in order, but I wanted to share my experiences with them thus far.
Avalon Motorsports has been an absolute pleasure to work with! When dealing with a shop, the most important things to me are honesty, communication and customer service. Brian/Avalon have more than surpassed my expectations! What I like about Avalon is that they just don't do what you want them to do. Brian@Avalon takes the time to truly understand what your goals and objectives are with your car and based on that, recommends both short term and long term strategies to accomplish the goals that you've set out for your car. Brian has done an absolutely fantastic job keeping me updated with timely communications and recommendations along the way.
It takes a lot to impress me - I'm not the type of person that's easily impressed. With that said, if you are looking for a shop that can do it all, look no more. Brian and crew at Avalon is the shop that you want to go with! It sounds like they now have plans to offer software/chips for any VAG application and each file will essentially be a custom tune which is EXACTLY what I was looking for! They've been a true pleasure to work with! It's so nice to finally have peace of mind knowing that a shop is going to take good care of you and your car. It all comes down to setting expectations and meeting/exceeding those expectations. Avalon - you've certainly earned my business!
