Just wondering what my car is probably worth. I went and looked at a 2005 A8 and now i want one.

73k miles
premium package
ultrasport package
cold weather package
lighting package

loaded with everything except Nav from the factory. It now has Nav thanks to the Avic-D3

Car has following mods:

All mods are between a month and half & 1 week old

19" VMR RS4 Reps (1 week old)
H&R coilover
H-sport sway bar
Neuspeed Exhaust
RS4 Engine Trim
TT Flat-Bottom Steering Wheel
25th Anniversary Shift Knob (1 week old)
Avic-D3
Inifinity Component Speakers
Painted Black Roof (Done right, had them remove front and rear windshield to paint)
Carbon Fiber DTM Roof Spoiler (Painted to fade Black to CF)
Blackout Front Grilles
RS4 Pedals
Tinted Windows

I might be missing a couple things but that's what i think of off the top of my head.

i'm not going to comment on a price because i'm not really sure.

95% of the time if you put anything after market on the car it lowers the resale value rather then increases it, but i think this applies more to engine mods rather then cosmetic which from your mod list looks to be the case.

all laughing aside, he's right. i'm in the process of selling my Regal and decided to de-mod. you'll get more money out of it that way. any smart car buyer will look at engine mods and think possibly the car was beat on. just my .02.

It's worth whatever you could get in stock form plus all mods parted out. That's the most you'll get. As is, you'll be lucky to get 1k more than private sale with all mods left on the car.

Sad thing is I went for a trade in for my car back then at about 75k miles at a dealership and they offered me 12k for trade in. I bet you can prob get 15k-17k if you did private sale, but still would be relatively hard to sell since most b6 s4's can be had for about 20k-25k. Resale value really sucks for Audi. Good luck buddy, if you are really selling this gorgeous car, I might be half tempted to put mine up for sale and take yours instead.

I had a similar situation w/ my previous ride, a modded SVT Contour. Fortunately, I had saved all my stock parts (including shocks, springs, wheels, etc) so the car could be put back to stock. What I ended up doing was putting the modded car on Autotrader w/ lots of pics, explanations, and the list of stock parts. It took awhile, but, I got lucky and pretty much got full retail for the car...

The harsh reality is that mods do nothing for the value of your ride. If you want any type of real $, you will have to de-mod, return it to stock, and part it out. Otherwise, be prepared to wait and take a bath on the mod pieces...

Mods really do have to be parted out to get anything significant back. Just the way it is. Even Stage III B5 S4s with 20K+ put into them rarely get more than a couple thousand over private party for stock, and that is for relatively low mileage ones too.

You have a really nice car as is, I'd just enjoy it. But it certainly doesn't hurt to try to get whatever you want for it. Either way, good luck.

And thats all you'll be offered with mods. If you think you are going to get more than 1k over market value because of your mods. Be prepared to wait a long time. The sooner you realize that the mods on the car add no real value at all. The faster you'll sell the car.............

I am from the Jeep world so I know this better than most people on here. The money I have into my Jeep Cherokee would put a good 80% of AZers to shame. With the purchase price of my rig ($7,000), I have about $20,000 into it. It's gonna sell for $8,000 obo. And not right away at that price. Think about that some, and then get back to me about the mods to your car...................

I won't take a bath if i can't sell ti for what i want i will keep it. hopefully i can find someone that understands the mods! I feel like i'm repeating myself.

This I've never understood. The longer you keep it, the more it will depreciate. And the less it will be worth. If you are thinking about selling it, it's because you pretty much want to. It's better to stomach it now, cut your losses and do it. Than sitting on it forever cause no one wants to play at your price. Just food for thought.

no i would sell it because i want an a8, i love my car but i like the a8 too. It's not like i HAVE to sell my car. So yes i would love to wait and get what i want. Plus my mods are tasteful and someone will like it and pay the premium dollar for it.

I dont think you realize you have a four almost five year old car, its bodystyle has been updated twice i think since then. and the market is in the tank......... take your mods off and sell them seperately... otherwise be prepared to wait a long time

It's not that it absolutely will not sell for the price your expecting... It's a 'probability' thing. The probability of it selling with the mods for a price you'd be willing to accept is very low.

This is what people are trying to tell you.

Whether you are modding 4x4s, Sports Cars, Motorcycles, Boats, etc..., people that aren't into performance modding assume that the modded vehicle has be stressed more in its lifetime than a stocker. On top of that, not every shop in town has the talent to maintain a 'modded' car versus a stocker.

"That is just how it is." These posts aren't trying to bring you down, there just trying to illustrate the realities of the market - which is in the tank for the mid to long term.

I'd also say that unless you have the need to haul around people all the time, stick with what you got. That A8 is going to be a lot more expensive to maintain and operate, and probably won't be as fun to flog/drive. Unless you're just into the straight line or NASCAR type stuff. Which is cool, but not my cup of tea.

For instance, I just sold my 'built to the hilt' race bike (WERA roadracing) for pennies on the dollar. $4500 to be precise. I had at least $24~28K into that bike. Even though the bike was a 2002, it'd spank newer bikes on the track, b/c it was dialed.

Don't ever put money into a vehicle and expect to recoup it later. Only 2~3% of all vehicles appreciate in value, and that is usually only after a great deal of time has passed since the original date of their manufacture.

it is a sweet ride, and trust me ecause ive gone through it, if your in the situation where you "wanna" sell it but could live without selling it, then wait for the price your looking for or dont sell it at all, i made the mistake of dumping 4 grand into my stang and trading it in 4 months later, the car was 16k and the mods were 4k and i traded it in for just over what i owed on it and got like 11.5k, just because i really wanted the audi i now proudly own... i dont regret getting the audi but i do regret getting rid of the car i put my soul into for a fraction of what i paid... btw it only had 30,000 miles on her and was an 03 gt 5 speed
