    Need Torque Specs!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello there, quite frankly I don't feel like searching around and trying to find all of them so if you can be kind enough to bring them here to this post I would greatly appreciate it and it may help someone in the future the were to search

    Head Bolts
Oil Pump (think this is like 9 ft/lbs)
    Cam Caps
Oil Pan (think this is 84 in/lb or 7 ft/lbs)

And I dont have the torque specs for my rods which have ARP 2000 rod bolts. So anyone know the torque specs for those rod bolts? Pretty sure they are in like all rods just about.

Thank you and have a good day.

O yeah, Im tearing the car apart tomorrow and over the weekend.

    Going in are:

    Pauter rods
    AEB Forged 20mm Pistons
    New Rings
    ACL Calico coated rod bearings
    AEB head
    Schrick 252/260 cams
    New oil pump

    Re: Need Torque Specs!

    You'll have to convert these.
    Head bolts-2 stage 40Nm+180 degrees, 2 90s are ok
    Cam caps-10Nm
    Oil Pump-16Nm
    Oil Pan-7mm 15Nm, 10mm 40Nm
Rods- 30Nm+90 degrees (These are factory bolts, so I'd check)
Let me know if you need others

50-55 ft/lbs for the arp rod bolts...... well forget it. I will quote another post with all that info.

This all applies to the ARP 2000 bolts- NOT the factory bolts!

Under normal usuage, assuming they are not overtorqued in the first place, they are operating within the elastic portion of their stress strain curve so they ARE reusable.

The only way to really determine 100% if they are acceptable to reuse is to measure them brand new, record those values, and compare to them when you go to reuse them. This will tell you if an over rev or some other event has damaged them in use.

The proper torque is 50 to 55 ft-lbs, using the ARP Lube. DO NOT follow the factory torque procedures, I have never tried to see what torque that equates to, but in any case, the proper torque is 50 to 55 ft-lbs with the ARP Lube. You can also do them directly off of stretch if you have a gauge, .006"- but most people don't have a rod bolt stretch gauge.

They should also be torqued (to about 50) and broken loose, twice, and then torqued to the final torque- this burnishes the threads and makes sure everything is worn in so that the torque readings give an accurate preload on the joint.

I think that should set straight most of the stuff on this thread regarding bolt torque. I tried to keep it pretty brief.

Sorry about the not price matching- purems doesn't list what brand any of their products are, and the day you called I tried to call them and they were already closed for the day. After that it just sort of got lost in the cloud of stuff to do before we left for vacation.

How many miles on the motor? isn't honing required?

    Re: Need Torque Specs!

The motor IS being honed as well as more clearance being put in the cylinders to allow the Forged pistons since they expand more than cast. Needed an extra roughly .020 shaved to have .035 clearance between piston and wall and 80,000 miles are on the engine.

AEB pistons are a different forged aluminum then aftermarket ones, i assume to keep the noise on cold starts down.

No, thats .003" not 0.30" lol... The stock clearances are .0015" according to the Bentley

And David, I would shoot for .002" MINIMUM, I repeat, MINIMUM for aftermarket forged pistons
