Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone ever used one of these before and or had a friend or seen someone, lol or even driven an a4 that had one of these. It seems like a really nice upgrade, and my stabilizer that is underneath is broken anyways from a tow truck. I want and need to replace mine, so I"m thinking of upgrading with this......or if anyone has the stock to sell to me dirt cheap in the mean time let me know thanks guys!!!

BTW my car seems to sway alot more without this part

    Re: AWE DriveTrain Stabilizer

I know the price is insane, and thats why I'm curious as to if this makes like an amazing difference or what ya know? lol

you could buy a stage two clutch kit for that price, or let alone some suspension wich I'm sure would make a bigger difference than this peice of metal lol

That one doesnt seem to tie into the trani.. However, it does seem to be the same basic part.

Notice no bushings or bolts for the trani on the neuspeed part.

Yup, it will firm up the car itself a bit, but the AWE one will provide reduced driveline slop as well. Which is the main reason I'd consider buying one (as I have the stock one in place which does not help with tranny movement.) Not to mention my stock one is bent back pretty far. A few really high speed bumps, some winter debris, etc has really taken its toll on it. Poor thing...

    Re: AWE DriveTrain Stabilizer

Cheaper to just upgrade your tranny mounts which will do basically the same thing by reducing movement of the driveline. Pretty much for the price of those DTS's you could replace both engine mounts and both transmission mounts.

Is this supposed to get rid of the drive line "clunk" so to speak?

    Forgive my ignorance.

    Re: AWE DriveTrain Stabilizer

I have one and I did the polyurethane upgrade and noticed a big difference. My shifter does not vibrate at all and it feels smoother without being to rigid. I love it.

This is a picture of when I was changing to the STaSIS center diff.

Here is a link to the D.T.S. improvement that worked out very well. Scroll down to post #20 where I have pictures of the install.

No, that is the rear diff hitting the frame. To get rid of that you need to upgrade the rear diff, most people just go with the Stern Power ring since it is $53.

    Re: AWE DriveTrain Stabilizer

Its either that, or the center carrier bearing or the front snub mount...

I had to replace all of those items to get rid of all the clunk.. Now I have to change all of the motor/trani mounts... arg.

    Re: AWE DriveTrain Stabilizer

Its a must have for any Audi with quattro. Its stiffens up your drivetrain, especially when you a APR snub and change out the AWE rubber mount to a polyurethene one.

No problem. If you already have the AWE transmission stabilizer, it is the best $30 investment you can put on your car IMHO.

    Re: AWE DriveTrain Stabilizer

That is two huge chunks of billet that look like they have to be machined from both sides, as well as that large center piece. I can see how the cost would get up there. Being a machinist myself- I don't think the price is unreasonable.

I do think it could be done cheaper using stamped or bent / welded mild steel, but then it wouldn't be as nice either.
