Sporadic center brake light warning

I recently purchased a 2005 S4 convertible with 25k miles (posting here because this doesn't seem to be an "S" related problem).

The center brake light indicator comes on very sporadically (maybe two every 5 miles or so) and for various durations (a couple mins or a half hour), and various times (when starting the car or after driving for an hour, or anytime in between).

I have confirmed the center brake light does not work when this indicator is on, however the center light works when the warning light is not on (which is most of the time).

I recently replaced the passenger side lower brake light, but both sides are working now even when the warning light is on.

I suspect a loose connection somewhere. Of course the dealer where I bought it tried, and failed, to fix it so far. This is one of those issues that starts to drive you crazy. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Mine does this too. My brake light either works or it doesn't but my car pretty much decides which it wants to do when I first get in. The warning light either turns on right at start up or doesn't, but it wont turn on 30 minutes after driving. I figure it is just some sort of loose connection. And you are right, it is annoying. Looking for answers currently

Same here, it'll work then not work. I've tried tightening the female side of the connector without results. I know they're LEDs and LEDs don't sometimes works. They're either good or bad.
