    VSS and throttle cut

I have been stage 3 for a little over a month and having a problem. Initially the speedometer was bouncing around and the gas gauge as well. I replaced the VSS, still the same issues followed. I have also search for damaged wires and have found not one. Recently the speedo is either working or dead, no longer bouncing around. While it's dead the gas gauge will go up and down and the car throttle cuts at around 5,000 rpm. Anyone ever experience this type of issue? Just wondering if it may still be associated to the VSS itself or possibly something with the ECU. Also CEL shows Vehicle Speed Sensor, implausible signal. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

when you plugged it in, did you check the connection? was it free and clear of any contaminants?

the throttle cut is the rpm limiter the ecu has during the speed sensor fault. You might want to check you connections for the engine harness behind the ecu.

I have totally removed the ECU and plugged it back in, but no luck. It seems to have resolved the problem for a short time but it came right back. I will check the VSS connecter again to make sure that it's clean.

i'm not sure where it is in this car, but on my b7, the sensor is near the intake mani and this code was thrown and the sensor was actually not pushed all the way in. try and figure out where it actually is and make sure the sensor is plugged all the way in

Did you get the correct software for your car when you went stage 3? (A box, M box, etc)

    Re: VSS and throttle cut

I believe my original ecu was a T-Box with a MTM chip so the tuner sent me a Stg 3 M-box. It's really weird because if the car sits for a while it will work ok when I get in but about 15 minutes later the speedo will die and of course the throttle cut.

    Re: VSS and throttle cut

You may have done this but what I was saying to check was the plugs behind the ecu for the main harness. the red, orange etc plugs. I believe the speed signal gos through one of then into the instrument cluster. Most people undo these plugs to take the engine out.
