Does this look right (shifter related)?

All right, several months ago my shifter started getting a little sloppy, where I'd have difficulty shifting the lever into 3rd gear.
Then, I noticed that the shifter started leaning a little towards the right and then 1st and 2nd started getting to be a little difficult to get into.

I took out the lever shroud and noticed a broken joint surrounding and was wondering if this was the root cause of the problem.

Here you can see the extremes of the shifter positions as well as where it sits, untouched.

Did anyone have problems with this before?

    Thanks,
    Alen

I'd rather go the cheaper route and replace the plastic thingy.. B&M has served quite well so far. (well maybe not :( )
