I am switching forums!

No more 337/20th/GLI forum on VWVortex for me! But I ran a search and didn't find any threads similar to this cuz we had one in our forum.

Just posting a poll to see how many of you are the original owners of the S4 (if so, congrats for the 6-8 years and having the $50K to buy it new); bought your car used from a stranger (like me); "inherited" the car from a relative or bought it off a friend.

I bought mine from a stranger sight unseen 500 miles away (had it fully inspected at a reputable shop), drove down with a check and drove it back the same day. It took me a year and a half to find, nogaro sport package with low miles, and the only problems I have had is 2 torn CV boots and a door that would not stay shut. (knocks on wood)

I did a trade for mine. My 20th for his S4.

Used gmail chat and pix, met 1/2-way, drove away w/ each others cars.

If I sold my car straight up, tho, I was probably going to do something similar to you. One way ticket. Drive it back!

Bought mine from a VW dealer, but it seems like the previous owner took good care of it.

Bought mine from a former member in Chicago. Ran a carfax history and it had one of the most thorough maintenance histories I have seen on an S4. Bought a One-Way ticket, bought the car, and drove it back to VA. Other than a couple quirks here and there it drove flawlessly on the way back. But what do you expect? Its an Audi...its supposed to have some issues here and there.

Autobarn Countryside had a Satin Silver 2000 w/ 56K on the clock.

They said it barely even had a chance to sit long enough to make tire marks.

I missed it by a day!

There's some REALLY NICE S4's FS: in Chicago. I HAD TO trade for mine tho, cuz no one was biting on just buying my 20th.

Third owner with 52k on it 2 yrs ago. Only mechanical issue that it has ever had was a window regulator and the damn sticky coin/cup holders

3rd owner on mine as well, bought 3yrs 2months ago with 60,000 from a dealership. now i have 109,000 and wish i had less on it.

3rd owner, bought 11 mos ago w/ 75k miles from euro/import used car dealer in Mannheim PA (the auto auction capital of the world, or so they say), now has 80k miles -car was originally a LI car (so I've brought it back "home" I guess) - when researching the service history on car I learned the 2nd owner lived in RI - I called just about every damn Audi dealer in RI and eastern MA to get some info - was about to give up when on about the 20th or so call I struck paydirt - can't believe I actually bought a car w/ 75k miles on it, but so far, so good...great effing car, I must say.

Bought mine off Ebay from a guy in Maine. Flew to Boston, and took a bus up to meet him, then drove my new car home to Minnesota after that.

I bought it with 54k almost 3 years ago, now has 91,000 miles on it.

bought mine 3 years and 7 months, and 3 days ago

with 42,500... now im about to roll over 108k... biggest issue was my clutch went about 35k ago...

Saw the car on autotrader, exchanged some emails with pics. Then bought my ticket to Jersey a few days later after a little haggling. Drove it home and it was everything I expected.

Bought mine from the next state over, Delaware, from the second owner. It had a ton of maintenance and warranty work done, including...two sets of turbo replacements...Bought the car I wanted, black, 6spd with all the options(except the navigation).

bought it used, with a pile of KM on it. In remarkably good shape considering the mileage. Judgeing by the sandblasting the bumper took, it was mostly highway. Guy was a sales rep or something. Toodled all over the GTA with it.

Maintained at a porsche dealership.

bought mine 4 years ago in Beverly Hills with all maintenance records and 54000 on the clock.
just hit 103000 last weekend and also blew a turbo last weekend.
Car is being towed away at 6 tomorrow morning and is being delivered to Mike Simmply
at Wicked for a full overhaul.

I BOUGHT MINE FROM THERE A COUPLE YEARS AGO haha how weird. they had 3 different silver ones. mine was the only 02 on the lot and it was chipped w/ milltek exhaust and extremely maintained according to the carfax report. seems like they still have some s4's over there

Bought mine 7 months ago after more than a year of searching. Flew out, inspected it, completed transaction, dropped off to shipper, and flew back. I would've drove it, but it had low miles and I didn't want to drive it from NY to UT. I negotiated, one way flew out to Cali, bought and drove home my 04' A4USP though.
