now what's leaking?!! help!

I was unloading my car after food shopping and noticed a little puddle under the passenger side of my front bumper. I had just had the AC running (which i just recently had recharged) so i figured maybe it was just water. After I unloaded i decided to check it out, and it wasn't water. It was clear, but it was kinda slippery and greasy. I took off the lower grille by the pass. fog light to see if i could find the source and i did. once you take off the grille and pull back the black plastic which directs the air toward the intercoolers, there's what looked like a braided wire of some sort with a fitting on it. i'm not really too sure what it is/does, but im hoping maybe you guys can point out what it is.

Sounds like your headlight washer system is leaking.

it didnt seem like washer fluid though. it was oily, but not engine oil. it was starting to build up on the inside of the bumper and some of it dripped out and onto the driveway. i'll try to snap a picture when i get a chance

Yeah, picture would help, that was just a guess about the headlight washer. Could be pentosin from the power steering system too.

sounds like water from the AC system/washer system.. there is nothing on the car that uses clear fluid. otherwise.


unless your cooling system has a VERY light mix of coolant to water then it would feel oily and look almost clear and colorless

I think if you're looking at it in volume(in the reservoir), it appears green, but I'm pretty sure it pours yellowish to clearish.

alright idk if i can get a camera to use today since i dont have one of my own. but i took another look at it. i'm not exactly a connoisseur of automobiles so forgive the lack of knowledge. this braided wire i'm talking about connects into whatever the black radiator thing is on the front in front of the main radiator. is that for the a/c?

Stupid question, but did you touch the ground and the liquid? If it was water and hit the pavement, it will get greasy from the pavement.

well i touched it off the ground first, noticed it wasn't water, then reached up under the bumper and felt it again. and i think the "black radiator thing" i was talking about earlier may be the a/c condenser possibly?

^ That's a fair guess ... It's either water, coolant, or a mixture.
