good deal, hopefully you can see the reduction in metals as they suggested. your gas is nice and low, was this cold or hot (highway run for >20 min.) oil?

Re: Oil results from Blackstone Labs

It was warm oil. I got the car up to operating temp while giving it 2000rpms for a couple minutes after that then shut it down and drained... so no heavy driving load, just sitting in the garage getting it up to an okay temp for testing... I will send in another sample after my next oil change. I won't be using any leaded gas in this next oil cycle so the results are a little more "clear".

No Blackstone Labs is located in IN. I just sent them the oil late last week. Talk about a quick turn around time for results

Thanks Chris, I do feel better now. I always feel on edge with this car...

www.blackstone-labs.com All the info you need is on there. If you prepay for 6+ samples the price drops to $19/sample. I test everything but my lawnmower, but no every single change, I do every other. Its an incredibly useful service.

Turnaround is usually within two weeks from ship date. Once I've had it go longer, I think the sample was lost in the mail system for a while. *shrug* Yes they pre-ship you the test kits for free, you pay postage to them and the $22 for the test. I must have 20 of the damn kits laying around my garage lol.

just order their kit online. They will send you everything you need container wise, etc with proper instructions on what you need to do. You just use the packaging they send you and slap on your shipping label along with the ~$24 or so they want and they send you your results via pdf on email.

Who the fuck knows, not me, not David, not Greg. I've replaced sensors, checked harnesses, etc. I have a spare ECU @ REVO, but they have to create an 8500 file with immobilizer defeat, about a week or two. I'm not even 50% sure the ECU will fix it.

different parts have different composition of these elements. so it's like a fingerprint of what might be showing signs of wear.

Oil Analyst can tell you if that bottle of X (where X is the newest greatest lubricant) is doing it job or lubricating your internal parts. Obviously if the oil contains a large amount of metal, i.e. Aluminum, then most likely your oil is not stopping or slowing engine damage, etc. Worth $22, IMHO.

Finally got off my ass and shipped my oil to Blackstone Labs on Saturday.

    Here are the results:
This was 2580miles into the new motor. I sampled this oil at the oil change when I switched over to synthetic. This sample is Dino oil and was in the engine for 1295miles.

Does anyone know if these oil reports would give an owner a headsup on an impending sludge problem? Can you get back oil reports showing little engine wear and still develope a sludge problem?

    Thanks, Dave
