    Question about RS6

    Hey Guys,

Was wondering if they ever made any manual transmission RS6's in 03 whenthey had the twin turbo V8? I think they made it the one year. But not certain on that. When I go to search for used RS6's I only see auto's so I'm assuming they didnt make any manual transmission RS6' but thought I'd ask anyway.

All RS6 cars are automatics. 2003 was and the new 2009 will be too.

    Thx,

It's sad, to have such a powerful car and not be able to have it in a manual for those of us who like manuals.

Unfortunately, Audi must have decided that the audience that would buy the RS6 would be more likely to want an Auto than a manual. I have yet to see an reason that they couldn't make a manual tranny to support the torque from the RS6.

In fact, you will also find that the S6 and the S8 were (and still are) only offered in automatic too.

Since the BCY motor in the RS6 was adapted from the 4.2L in the regular A6, you could possibly replace the auto tranny with a manual one from a B6/B7 S4 or RS4. This is just a thought. I haven't taken the time to fully investigate the bolt patterns and input shaft.

    Re: Question about RS6

you could always get the RS6 V8-TT engine and drop it into a S6 manual like the mtm clubsport (or i guess a transmission swap, whatever is easier :))

    Re: Question about RS6

Didn't they make a RS6 in manual overseas? I cannot remember if it is a factory option overseas or if people did a aftermarket swap. I know it would be BIG money to do and not really worth it.

    Re: Question about RS6

i heard that overseas they made a few. or they were companies that made them. Unfortunately, the autos were only holding round 600 hp before they started going. Thats a article i read though. I have never seen a manual though.

the new one prob will not have a manual. Autos are faster shifting now anyway. lol

Thats what they say about the SMG in the bimmers too. After a certain point, the cars are fast enough, especially if you are not tracking a car. I love rowing through the gears, which is why I searched all over for my 6 spd. I don't mind driving auto, but I just can't bring myself to do it with a car that has a level of performance to it. The new RS6 should be sickenly fast, so no reason to deprive people of shifting on their own if they choose IMHO.

Companies like MTM would be the ones to convert them but, Audi didn't even make a manual RS6 in Europe.

I just looked in ETKA to see for sure. The only two varieties of the RS6 were the standard RS6 with 450HP and the RS6 Plus that was 480HP. Both were made with 6-speed automatics though.

    Re: Question about RS6

There's a thread on one of the Audi sites that explained about the one RS6 that has a manual tranny - MTM did the work - lots and lots of work.

The car makes something like 710 hp and ended up getting impounded in Switzerland. It's now in Michigan eating American Muscle Cars (cough, cough, hack, hack, wheeeeezzzzzeee) for lunch.

It's a pretty cool story about the car - very well documented. If I can find a link, I'll post it.
I had something to put here, but unfortunately misplaced it...

I remember seeing the post from someone here a few weeks back that saw the car in the states and asked if the RS6 was made in a manual. That car must be so much fun to drive.
