Question Tranny damage- assembly mount question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was involved in an accident going around 20-30 mph--- and the impact tore the transmission/engine assembly mount (diagram on page P34-14 in the bentley manual)

My question is, it looks like there's 5 bolts attaching this part to the transmission--- is it possible to just unbolt this from the tranny and purchase a used one from a junkyard to replace it with it?

Can anyone please chime in--- I'm stuck in Florida here and I need to repair my car! I'm from New York and I want to go home!

Re: Tranny damage- assembly mount question

The mount is designed to break so the engine and transmission don't hurt the passenger in an accident. The mount is called something like "Transmission support xxxxx" As long as the actual mounting bosses aren't cracked you should be able to swap it out pretty easy.

P.S. Don't be surprised if you start breaking axles if you try to drive without that mount.

Anyone know the name of it? Or at least know what I'm talking about? Or should I snap a pic or two to reference what I'm referring to.

Not sure which tranny you're talking about, but if you have Bentley can't you just make a copy of the pic and take it to the dealer?

I'm back up in Westchester County, NY --- heading back in 5 days to Florida...

I left my Bentley manual down there... can anyone _please_ make a copy for me of the page, it's located as followed:

Love to help, but my Bentley is on my computer. I see group 34 is the 5 speed manual, but I don't have page numbers. Describe what you need to see and I'll post a .pdf.

When I wrecked my car both tranny and both engine mount brackets, I just replaced them with all new ones that I ordered from Mike at Purems.
