    Rear brakes cooking

I just put new brakes on the rear of my B6, new rotors/pads. I didn't have the special tool so I just turned then pushed the pistons in with some other tools. Anyway, just took a drive today, stopped a light, smelled a horrible smell, got to the office looked at my rears and they are cooking... loads of heat and both are going purple :( Is it possible/known issue that the hand brake cable might get stuck? This is the only thing I can think of because I can't see how both rear calipers get stuck at the same time.

    Thanks

    Re: Rear brakes cooking

Make sure your pads are installed correctly again. It's easy to have the spring push them off where they need to seat if this is your first time doing your rear brake pads. If you didn't take the caliper off to do this your ebrake should not have changed. If you did, verify the spring is put on the correct way and there is nothing binding up the cable...

Did you have to force the caliper back on? It sound like the pistons didn't get pushed back enough.

Also make sure you did not twist the brake line when putting the caliper back on. This will cause the brakes to heat up much faster than normal and smell pretty bad.
