    Folding Mirrors

Does anyone know what it would take to have folding/autodim mirrors, either from the S4 or higher a4 models. I have basically a base a4, and I do not have autodim.

    Re: Folding Mirrors

You would need the proper side mirror switch and a set of side mirrors, I would assume (so im not 100%) that the wiring is in place in the car.

    Might be pricey...

PS love my folding mirrors, haha

    Hope this helps

    Re: Folding Mirrors

I like that my rear view and side mirrors are all dimming more than the fact that the side mirrors fold. People want to be assholes and drive behind me with their brights, be my guest because it doesn't do shit but light up my headliner a little more. Just be ready for my uber brights when you finally pass me, you vagina.

I fold mine in when i go in my garage. My buddies younger bro has a MB and their mirrors fold in when he locks his doors. I thought that was pretty cool.

Does the rear view mirror dim? if it does I would think the wires are all set up you get need the hardware. You might be able to find diming mirrors off a parts car. then buy the whole mirror and see what it takes!

    Re: Folding Mirrors

Well...it seems that I'm the only one that doesn't have folding mirrors. Btw. my rear view mirror is dimming, wish that the side mirrors would be too. Good feature! Doesn't anyone of you know how you can make them folding!? What is needed and so on... Or is it even possible!?

Ever consider folding them in might make it less easy to smash into when your car is parked?

I so dont trust people in parking lots. I live and work in a place where a nice car is more like a target, my last car was bumped, scratched and dented so many times, I can only imagine that a RDAUDI would be a prize for some A-hole to remove my mirror.

Better safe than sorry, and they look dope when you drive away and unfold them...

    Re: Folding Mirrors

I think it's a cool feature, and I use it when I'm parked in public spots or on the street just for extra peace of mind, but it's not all that useful in the States.

I was driving in Ponta Delgada, in the Azores, a few months ago though and the city streets are so tight you have to curb your wheels and fold your mirrors or chances are it won't be there when you get back. It could be stressful as hell too... as soon as you start to parallel park, you have a line of cars behind you. They're a hell of a lot more patient than the drivers I'm used to, but if you're driving a completely unfamiliar vehicle, like say a rental car...

These pictures may be wide enough to not quite do the street our hotel was on justice, but I was driving a Ford Galaxy, which is about as close to a minivan you can get in Europe (parked in front of the Seat Ibiza in the first pic) and there were streets I went down where you literally were rubbing the tire on the curb and still a couple inches from the cars on the other side.

In cases like this, having the ability to fold your opposite side mirror without having to reach over - like if you're trying to get past someone and need a bit more clearance - becomes a really nice convenience.

    Re: Folding Mirrors

I use my auto-folding mirrors daily in and out of my garage. SF has some tight streets, I use it parking in the city as well. I wish there were auto-dimming blind-spot eliminating side mirrors here.

Which electrical wizard out there can come up with a way to make our auto-folding mirrors auto fold with the lock function like the Mercedes have?

    Re: Folding Mirrors

I wish the Audi had folding mirrors like on the Euro E46 M3's.

They fold up instead of just in.
