You have to remove first with a screw driver the plastic shroud at front lower part of the engine. Then you will see a flat silver pan, in front of it is the drain plug and the oil filter is directly in front of the oil pan. Good luck.

    Re: change oil

as mention there's a big plastic cover. take a flat head and unscrew the left and right side of the screws first. you might want to turn your steering wheel as you change sides to make it easier. after that, unscrew the center screws.. and that dam plastic cover should drop... now unscrew the drain plug and let all that oil flow. Follow by changing the oil filter.. we recommend oem filter(MANN). put a new filter back on. tighten the drain plug. and put in some syntec oil (about 6 1/2 Qt to 7Qt).. put everything back on and you should be good to go....

If you are not familiar with working on cars or cars in general, it may be smart to have someone more familiar join you the first time just to watch over. After you know what to do, its a piece of cake.

    Re: change oil

You will need the following items first:

Floor jack (not the emergency jack from the trunk)
    Jackstands
    Flatblade screwdriver
    1/4" ratchet
    10mm socket
Torx T30 bit (some A6s have the three torx screws at the front edge of the belly pan)
    19mm wrench
large oil filter wrench (only to loosen the old filter)
7QT or greater oil drain pan
    medium size funnel

If you don't have all of these items (well you could skip the funnel I guess) you should not proceed any further.

    1. jack the car up from the each side behind the front tires and get a jackstand under the support points under the car.
    2. then remove the outter trim for the belly pan at the front outter edges of the wheel well with the 10mm socket and then remove the two 90 degree locking screws at the inner corner of the wheel well.
    3. Go under the car and remove the 3 torx screws at the front edge of the belly pan (if they are there) and then remove the (6) 90 degree metal screws that hold the belly pan to the underside of the car.
    4. Open the oil filler cap and remove the dipstick.
    5. Place the drain pan near the drain plug on the oil pan under the car.
    6. Remove the drain plug with the 19mm wrench.
    7. Allow all oil to fully drain and slow to a drip every 4-5 seconds. This may take a while.
    8. Clean off the drain plug and screw it back in. Snug it and then a 1/8 turn to torque it down.
    9. Loosen the filter with the filter wrench.
    10. Catch the added oil in the drain pan. Allow to slow to the same 4-5 second interval between drips.
    11. Apply a thin coat of oil on the new filter's gasket.
    12. install new filter hand snug and then an 1/8 turn by hand.
    13. reinstall the belly pan.
    14. place car on ground.
    15. pour in 5qts of oil with the use of the funnel.
    16. close filler cap and insert dipstick.
    17. run motor for a minute at idle.
    18. turn off and let sit for 2 minutes.
    19. Check oil level and add more (in 1/2 qt intervals) until oil reaches the top of the cross-thatched area of the dipstick.
    20. clean up the old oil and other stuff.

    Re: change oil

a set of ramps instead of jacking the car up and putting it on stands works good for changing oil.
