I keep hearing this! I wonder which is a better deal, the AWE supercharger or a new RS4. It's gonna be one or the other in the next 12 months! I'd rather keep my S4 Avant but if the RS4 continues to be so cheap, I may have to reconsider. Damn them for not bringing the RS4 Avant to the US!

Has anyone traded in a fully loaded 2006 S4 (AoA financed) for an RS4 lately? What kind of deal can I expect? My S4 is already 75% paid for. I wonder what deals are like for low mileage CPO'd RS4s.

If I go to the RS4, I'll have to factor in speeding tickets. I am convinced the Avant has saved my butt a number of times.

Equivalent? If the waterfest dyno sheet from AWE is accurate the supercharged S4 will be superior, not equivalent. It's 80 more hp than an RS4...

+ bigger brakes + suspension i dunno might as well get an rs4 IMO, plus you get a reliable engine under warranty for 50k/4yr, i'm not dogging on the vf 4.2 sc but will it be as bulletproof as a factory NA v8? ehhh

If you supercharge an S4 to 500hp and then drop in a Stasis suspension, Stasis center diff, Alcon brakes and some fat sways, does it then outperform the RS4 at that point? Blasphemy to RS4 lovers, but what's left on the RS4 that is better?

The other sticking point I have on the US RS4 for me is it lost out on the badass seats and steering wheel. That said I would murder the entire population of a small village for a Euro spec RS4 Avant.

I think your forgetting that most of the S4 owners already have bigger brakes + suspension.. It's not like I'm going out and buying a new car and choosing an S4 with the idea of putting on a sc. I already have an S4 which is out of warranty so, why not?

Don't get me wrong, I'd kill to have a new RS4 and think it's an amazing car. I just don't see how it will compete performance wise with a sc s4.. Not dogging it at all.

its hard to explain why the RS4 is better than an S4. It comes down to the extra 1250rpms redline. An RS4 is an RS4 regardless.

And you personally don't own either. We all know the RS4 is far better all around. The point of the discussion is performance wise it MAY no longer be superior.

With a supercharger, the S4 engine will probably be as exhilerating as the extra 1250 rpm of the RS4. That said, I have only driven the RS4 a couple of times and never driven the AWE supercharged S4.

The warrantly is good point. There's no data on the long term reliability of the supercharged S4. I'm sure AWE is testing the hell out of it but I wonder what they will warranty with the install. Audi certainly won't touch an engine with an after market supercharger.

Everything considered, I think the cars would be pretty similar performance wise. I need to add up the cost of modding the S4, factor in the warranty differences and then go to the dealer and see if their offer is good enough to make me give up being in an Avant! The RS4 may win on the all-in price given the current deals. A supercharged S4 Avant would be the ultimate stealth vehicle though.

Man, what a debate. No more 4 series for me, gonna have 3 kids come Oct, so S6 for me when the new one comes out.
As far as the S/C'd S4 vs RS4 debate, l say it is a major queston of reliability. ln the end, an S4 is an A4 wth bigger everything, while the RS4 is a completely different car, and for a reason. Personally, l'm not a fan of fordced inducton bolt-on's, they never are problem free and always have one issue or another. Anyway, the B6 guys l can see, maybe, but who is really gonna bolt on an aftermarket S/C on their B7 and void their warranty. We'll see who ponies up the approx $10K. Everyone's gonna come down with a sudden case of reason and alligator arms.
