Clinking sound from rear when coasting?

So i noticed that when i coast at lower speeds i can hear a clinking sound. Imagine the sound of a rollercoaster pulling you up the hill. you know the clink clink clink clink. make it quieter and less heavy sounding and thats what i hear when i coast...... it's baffling me and i'm new to quattro.

Edit: i should mention that when i take it out of gear and coast it doesnt make the sound.

Hard to say without actually hearing it, but I would guess it's a CV joint or the driveshaft. Likely a CV though. Check the rubber boots and see if any are torn and pissing grease.
