replaced Control Arms, axle, brakes... possibility of a bad new axle?

Alright, i just finished doing the control arms, wheel bearing, axle, brake pads, stainless steel brake lines, and just ordered new rotors (a8 upgrade for the win!)

However, with the car back together, there is a hum, that i am thinking is the axle being bad. It gets louder with speed, and will go away if i turn the wheel slightly.

I haven't gotten an alignment yet (yes, its on my list of things to do), so that may explain why it comes and goes with wheel movement. However, that would mean it only makes the noise when i turn. Does this sound like a bad axle?

I'm going to through it back up in the air, but thats a pain with my car, and i just moved back to ft. collins, so i dont have any jackstands or a proper jack.

    Thanks!

most likely its your alignment. my spare car is so shot in the alignment that if i turn the wheel the hum goes away. im just wearing tires away fast cause these stink and i need justification for new tires.
