is this what a new snub mount does?

Ok today I was messing around with my shifting, I put it into first and started cruising slowly, i would blip the throttle on and off every couple of seconds and realized there was some slop in between on and off throttle load. Is this the slop that a new snub mount is supposed to clean up?

I remember there was some slop from 1st to 2nd. No matter how smooth, I try to drive it, there wouldnt be a smooth transition. After the mount was installed, it just takes the problem away!

could also be motor mounts and/or tranny

I had both motor and tranny and snub mounts busted when i bought my car....

The jerking you [the OP] are describing is common for most (if not all) manual cars due to the short gearing for the first gear. Any quick and significant changes (e.g. blipping the throttle rapidly) made in the engine's speed will be felt through out the vehicle.

The solution is not to blip the throttle rapidly in first gear, but rather release your foot off of the accelerator slowly or shift to second gear.

The front engine mount (commonly referred to as the snub mount) helps largely in reducing engine play so I would assume the vehicle would become more jerky with the stiffer mount compound rather than making it smoother in this particular situation.

yeah i know i dont normally blip it like that, I was using that as an example for the slop i was experiencing during shifting. So a fresh snub mount makes it shift more solid?

Correct, driver and passenger side motor mounts, front motor mount (snub mount) and one tranny mount
