    Drip Drip Drip, Noooo!

So I am pretty sure this just started today, as I didn't notice it last night, but my car seems to be slowly dripping oil onto the ground. Don't bother thrashing me for not searching the forums, because I looked extensively and only turned up the threads pertaining to problems with the DV and oil leaking out onto the valve cover, not just dripping onto the ground.

Anyone have any idea what this might be from, or if it's serious? I can tell you two things; one, I accidentally shifted from 3rd to 2nd and had the engine rev up to about 6.5k rpm rather violently (hate Tip for that!), and two I went over some pretty brutal speed bumps just this afternoon. It actually doesn't seem to be a terriblly fast drip, but I'm positive it is oil.

Anyone? Plz help! For now I'll just go buy some quarts and keep it topped off 'till I can figure it out. Thanks in advance AZer gear-heads!

Do you have oil around your oil cap/on top of the engine? If so you are probably getting affected by the mighty PCV

    Re: Drip Drip Drip, Noooo!

Nope, no oil on top so no PCV problem thank god, and the leak also seems to have stopped since I've parked the car. In fact, when I popped the hood and poked my head around in there, I didn't find any traces of oil leaking out anywhere immediately within the engine compartment, just dripping from the bottom. A loose oil filter, perhaps?

I would get under it, but I don't have a jack (I refuse to use the widowmaker for this, too), nor do I want to slither around on the nasty-ass ground in my horribly-maintained apartment complex parking lot. I'll take it over to my parents' place who live nearby, they have tons of tools n shit.

Anything people can tell from the fact it stopped leaking? Checked the oil level and it almost seems to be overfilled (from the dealer), is there a way our cars kinda blow off excess oil? Thanks for the prompt replies guys!

btw acidrome, LOVE the avatar, except for I'm more of a PURE guy, muhahahah.

    hey ummm......dealer not an option?
you gotta go underneath the car and observe if it is leaking, else dealer it.
