I went to the rink today and was invited to play Junior A hockey for the Jamestown Jets in Jamestown, New York, two hours between buffalo, cleveland, pittsburgh, and philadelphia, as it was related to me. should I? I'm slated to be a junior at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington this fall and to rent a room in a house with my friends up there. It would be a predictably collegiate blast, but this is my last year of eligibility for a junior league. This particular league is young and small, but well-funded and heavily scouted by D-1 programs and well attended--the Jets opener has sold out its 2200 seats. I have to pay 5500 dollars for ice fees and board with a local family, but it's from September to March and I would be too old to play again, so it'd just be a temporary phase. And how badass? I get sponsored by Reebok and other equipment companies, and have team jerseys and matching gloves, helmets, pants, socks, warmups, and other swag. Allegedly in this small town, the Jets are the only object that warrants attention and the players are local celebrities. Advice? Thoughts? Here's the website: http://jamestownjets.com/
