I just drove the B8 A4 yesterday at Pocono Raceway. By far, the B8 was a mile ahead of the BMW, Merc and Lexus on performance and the interior was perfect as always in the Audi.

Nice post and great pictures! It's nice to see someone filling us in properly about these events.

All I normally read is a quick statement along the lines of "It was great! The new B8 is an amazing machine." No pictures, no details...

Draft, I was there for the 8:00 am session yesterday as well. I was quite surprised on how they ran it. Which was fun. We hit some pretty good speeds on turn 1 of the tri oval. I've done these types of things with BMW in the past and they always did smaller auto-x type courses down as Philadelphia Park (horse track). It was fun, but not as much fun as this was. We also drove the TTS and the A5. We were a little dissapointed with the A5. Too softly sprung for the track stuff. But the TT was great fun. We were able to hit 100mph in it. (sand bagged a bit to get some room between us and the car in front). I'd do it again in a heart beat. Great pics.

I went to the 3pm session on Tuesday. Not as fun as last year, but still a great time. The IS250 had no traction whatsoever (spun it out in a 360), and I was pretty impressed with the 328xi, but overall the 3.2 killed everything. Although I have to admit that the focus group was a bit biased by not using the 335xi as it is more inline with the 3.2 B8 A4's 46k pricing bracket. The instructor said that the 335i matches the S4's price segment, but not when the S4 is 14k more. If I was going in for a new 45k car it definitley be the 335 and not the A4.

Last year we got to lap the 3.2 TT's, and 2 of the cars were 6 speeds. The only issue was that previous drivers had bent the synchos on the shift linkage, which made it difficult to keep up with the instrucotr in the RS4.

    Nice pictures.

    Nice pictures.
Very correct on the price point.
Plus, the S4 is now an "old" model based on the B7 platform.
The 335i is new and price accordingly. When the new B8 S4 debut's the price will adjust accordingly and it won't be priced anywhere near the 335i.
Pricing is so clear cut as anyone can simply look it up, it amazes me that anyone even tries to argue that the 335i compares to the S4. It simply does not. It's performance compares to the S4, but not it's price.
And that performance is what draws many away from the A4 V6 and towards the 335i.

I'll be shopping after the new year for a new car. I really expect the
B8 2.0T quattro to be what is claimed, and I hope it's priced right.
If it approaches a base 335i price point, I'd give up heated leather and luxury items for the STUNNING performance of the 335i.

My 2006 2.0T S-line manual was priced at $39,500. A similarly equipped B8 will easily overshadow $40k. It's going to be a very tough call.
I may be going back to the blue and white prop.
