Thinking about picking up a TT225

    Hey there,

I'm thinking about picking up an 01 TT225 as an alternative to my B5. Aside from the timing belt + goodies problems and turbo, what else should I be looking at? The car I'm looking at has around 130k miles.

    Thanks in advance!

Look out for the glove box latch being screwed up. The handle jams and then breaks off when you have to force it to open it.

Also make sure the headlamp switch isn't broken. On many older TT's the fog lamps always come on when the headlamps are on. That's not right.

Make sure the instrument cluster is a non-issue. They are prone to failure. The gas gauge will read incorrectly and the tach will act crazy.

Other than that just take the car to either a dealer you trust or your indy mechanic who knows Audi's and pop for an hour of diagnostic time to have the car checked out.

Needless to say, you won't do that with every car you look at, but definitely with your final choice. It's better to part with a couple of bucks and determine whether or not you are buying a headache.
    A couple of Audi's later...
