Noob here, with a lot of love and questions...

    Hey everyone,

I am Chris. I am going to hopefully join you all soon as an Audi A4 owner.

My history: I am a 23, I work IT for a newspaper company, previously employed as a Tour Manager for bands by contract. My last three cars were MR2's. Fun cars for sure but now I itch for something more ummmmm.... conventional , classy, yet sporty too. My MR2's were all ground up builds. I never really associated with the MR2 community though, I went to a few meets, but many didn't understand quality, they just wanted a quick fix for a car that had more potential than they knew... I built my deuces for hill climbs but daily use too. It gave me much humor to near match cars that were much much more expensive than mine, but still got respect because my cars appeared near stock.

    My future:
So here I am, ready to join the likes of you. People who have a passion about their car, and a car that has as much in passion about its driver, as well as class . I have read tons about the car, driven a few at the dealership. It's now a matter of finding the fit for me. I am thinking the UltraSport is my flavor and I prefer the 1.8T since it has fair/good performance gains and better fuel economy. The 2.0T is great but out of my budget when it comes to financing. Anyways...

My main question at this point, is this; I located a 2004 A4 1.8T quattro with the UltraSport package, Bose 6 CD 200 Watt sound, and heated seats, and the car is in near mint condition. The mileage is just under 60K and the price is $17,500. It is a one owner vehicle too. Is this an offering I should jump on and buy?

Price doesn't seem too stellar. But i would say that if you know your shit, you will surpass the ultrasport status (appearance-wise) with minor mods. The rest is no different. Just look for a solid 1.8T and you'll be alright

Not a horrible price, but not great for the miles. If you can talk them to under $17k that would be solid. I personally love my Ultrasport (USP) and think it's worth paying extra up front to have a very good base to work from. It already has a better suspension, better body kit, and 18" wheels that are sweet. You can buy a regular A4, and spend a substantial amount just getting it to as good as a USP. Sounds like you will mod you car, but either way the USP is a great car that looks great out of the box.

I can tell you that you probably won't be happy with the 170hp from stock. I know I wasn't and I only came from a Jetta VR6. But the 1.8t is a very easy engine to mod and some basic things will get the hp more respectable and increase the fun factor.

You have found the best place to hang out and learn tons about your car here at AZ. Everything you could want or need to know is here. Learn the "search function" first thing, and it will open up much knowledge. I have only had my car for a few months, but couldn't be happier choosing Audi. Your right, classy but sporty as well. Welcome to the party, hopefully.

By the way, lived in UT for years. I'm a BYU grad, but don't hold that against me. You'll love that quattro in the snow.

thanks for the words. I really do not intend to do much to the car in terms of mods for a good long while. I like the USP because it's sharp and well... stock.

Maybe in the spring I will up the HP on the car but the 170hp was good enough for me as of now.

This place seems to be the most active and informative forum I have found yet for Audi's. All the reason I chose to join
