    Re: IPod Wiring Adapter ...

    Who makes that one?
I have an Icelink in my S6. I like it, but the cord is a little too short for where I wanted to put my iPod. The steering wheel buttons don't advance to the next song, and neither do the next track buttons l> on the radio. The REW/FF <</>> buttons on the radio do work, though.

I had another adapter (from mp3yourcar.com) in my '01 S4. That one let me advance to the next song, using the next track button on the radio.

The sound quality is pretty good. A lot of that comes down to the size of the tracks in your iPod. Mine are the default size, which is pretty small, so the quality is pretty low to begin with. Plus, I listen to a lot of punk, and Fat Mike can't really be recorded in high quality anyways.
But I have heard that the flat plug in the bottom provides better quality than the headphone jack, so you're ok there.

As far as installing it, I'm not sure how the whole thing hooks up in the back. I think they had to break a plastic clip to get it to fit into the new harness. Whatever. But the way I have mine, I had the wire run under the center console, and come out even with the front of the seat. I have to set mine in front of my ashtray.

The only problem I have is in my iPod. The connecter is loose, or something, and sometimes, I get a rhythmis ticking noise in my speakers. I jiggle the cable, and the sound goes away. I think I need a new body for my iPod.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

I have the Neo Prolink by Neo Car Audio. Mine allows you to keep your Sat radio, use the controls on the steering wheel and is plug and play. It also has an Aux in jack for any other audio device. I use it with my iPhone.

i'm very interested to know as to how it's plug and play. don't you still need to hook it up with the stock radio. by that, i mean connecting it to the back? would you by any chance snap some pics... i'm planning on choose this one because the price is somewhat in the same range, and be able to control with the steering wheel buttons makes this the winner!!!1..

Plug and play simply means that you don't have to splice into any wires. Yes you still have to take the radio out and plug it in the back and run the wires where you want.

That's correct Ryan. I had to pull the radio with removal keys and then disconnect the Sat radio harness (aka. Aux input) to plug in the Prolink harness. The Sat radio harness then plugs into the open connector on the Prolink harness.

I will admit that there is one wire that must be hooked up for ground. I chose to ground it to the radio chassis since there is a threaded hole in the back of the radio. One wire is still pretty "Plug & Play" to me.

The reason I chose this one was that the OEM Audi one would delete my Sat radio and there was uncertainty as to whether it would run my iPhone. There is now a true "iPhone" cradle from Audi USA but, it only works in MMI cars with the factory bluetooth and telephone prep.

Do these come with full ipod control from your radio? I want to be able to plug in my ipod, and not touch it at all. I have not seen any in action so I am not sure. Also, once plugged in, what input do you tune to in order to use your ipod? I ask this because my car already has an aux jack on the front that the previous owner installed and it uses the CDC input since there is no changer in the trunk.

Basically, you plug in the iPod/iPhone and press the CD button twice. The display on the headunit will change from CD to CDC. Thne you will be able to hear audio from the iPod/iPhone. If you're happy with the song that plays automatically then you can sit back and drive. If you wish to play a specific song or playlist, you will need to select it from the iPod/iPhone directly. Otherwise, you could just use your steering wheel track up/down buttons to keep changing until you hit the song/songs you wanted to hear.

The best thing for me is that I can still see/use my iPhone screen and when a call comes in, it mutes the song and I can answer with my bluetooth headset. After the call, the song comes back on right where it stopped.

So I would gain the use of the steering wheel buttons to advance songs, but thats it. Right now i am already using the CDC input for the aux jack on the front of my radio to plug into the ipod's headphone jack and just using the ipod to select my songs.

Your radio has an AUX port on it?

Ok. I understand now. I was very confused how you had an Aux port on a stock radio.

Sorry Daft, I didn't mean to confuse you. So is there no ipod adapter that allows you to fully control the ipod through the stock radio? Just want to know what the options out there are?
