    Steering wheel swap?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was just curious to see if anyone knew what it would take to get this bad boy swapped into the AR and link the paddles to the sport shifting mode of the transmission? I'm sure I'll need the Airbag and what not, but anything else?

Sorry, if there is already a thread for this, can you point me in the right direction?

    Re: Steering wheel swap?

I've been researching this a bit... Apparently it works, but I dunno about the actual PADDLE shifting. I haven't found a SOLID answer yet.

    Re: Steering wheel swap?

    Oh Oh! Great thread!

I want to do the same on my RS6. The controls in the R8, on the wheel, have spoiled the snot out of me and now I keep finding myself trying to control the radio with my thumbs in the RS and nothing happens.
I had something to put here, but unfortunately misplaced it...

    Re: Steering wheel swap?

i think the two streering wheels use different type of wiring for the music controls, so its impossible to make the newer streeng wheel music controls to work, the paddles on the other hand can be made to work, you just need a new self cancelling ring which has the hook-up for the paddles like the one in the rs6.

    Re: Steering wheel swap?

I've seen a writeup somewhere either here or on AW (for the paddle shifting)

wish I could remember but at least the info is out there I'm sure of it

    Re: Steering wheel swap?

So you need to buy a new Self-Canceling ring when you do a swap? Does the ring you buy depend on the Steering wheel you're swapping?

    Re: Steering wheel swap?

i don't think it does, as long as it has the connection for the paddles.
