    Transmission Problem?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I own a 2003 a6 4.2 and recently (this past weekend) I noticed that when trying to accel from a dead stop the rpm goes all the way to 3 or 4 and I feel a jerk in the car before the car goes above 20mph. accelleration after the jerk is fine but its the same thing after every dead stop and very slow roll. Does anyone know what could be the cause of this, or a way to diagnois without going to the dealership?

My Warranty (through an off brand company) expires in two weeks and need to figure out if the warranty will cover it

    thankx

    Re: Transmission Problem?

I don't think its well known but I had this problem. It was similar to yours but it would only happen sometimes under slow acceleration or cruising to a stop. I had heard about the throttle body being gunked up with shit and it doesn't allow the plates to close/open as they should under light throttle. The fix is to clean the shit out of the TB and its all good. It worked for me. The thing for this is, it only happens sometimes. You say your thing happens at every stop. I would figure that be a tranny problem more than the crap I was just talking about.

You might wanna search it up on AW. Much info on this crap over there.

    Re: Transmission Problem?

I have 97,000 miles on there.
here's the wierd thing: when I woke up this mornig to drive to work all the warning lights were off and I didnt feel the jerking anymore.
I'm starting to think that because I had my rear brakes done(the day before the lights came on) the ABS light was on while the car was adjusting to the new brakes????
but either way I cant rationalize the jerking
