Schrick cams, come help.

Anyone know info on them? I cant find a place that lists them for the 20v only 16v and less. I wanted to see the different stages.

A guy has a pair that he bought but doesnt know the number of them. He said when he ordered them that he told the people he wanted something a little more aggresive than stock and said they are a touch more aggresive than the small Cat cams which im assuming are the 3651s. So what would these be?

Do you have the part number? I have the Schrick catalog at home. Schrick doe quite a bit of custom grinds for tuners in Germany and Sweden.

What is vvt no I dont care. I am about to buy an AEB head and was thinking about the cams as well.

246° Intake Camshaft mated to 252° Exhaust Camshaft. 124° - Overlap Intake. 107° - Overlap Exhaust. 11mm Lift (Intake / Exhaust).

0467-E1-461-00/0467-A1-521-00 is the part number he had listed with all that other info. when he said he thinks that is what they were. I asked him to look for a part number on them and get back to me.

Remember these were for an AEB head so the part number would probably not be the same as a B6. The head is off a 98 Passat.

Those are for a TFSI according to the catalog, if it is a good deal, jump on them. Will not fit your motor but David will buy them in a second from you.

IIRC, they're about the same specs of the cams I have. Not a bad idle at all. And about 4k it's like uping the boost by 7-8psi and pull to 8500 without sweat.

252/260 is a mid cam setup, its not anywhere near being a wild cam set. If you look at the EVo guys, they jump right to 272/272 cams and thats even with their stock turbos. For my next setup it might have to be something in the 272/280 range seeing that I plan on running a much larger T4 flanged turbo soon.

I can't remember what the 3658's spec out at. I'm looking at them on QED, but I don't know which cam is int. and which is exh. I think it uses the 3651 intake and 3653 exh. and I can't find my cam card.

Straight from my Cat Cams 3651 card that was in the box:

Intake: 245deg duration

Exhaust: 262deg duration



You can get away with the stock cam gear but its advised to run an adjustable so you can tweak it. Due to the nature of how my head & block were decked I needed the adjustable cam gear with the 3651s. I was off 1/2 a tooth on the timing belt otherwise. Now that I've got it all set up I'm going to readjust the gear to add some more advance in and get better performance.

And the higher the number is more aggresive correct which would mean Chris's are lower significantly since the duration is quite a bit lower.

on what mike was saying about the evos and such --- i remember my buddy's evo.. that thing was on 272's w/JUST an exhaust and a AMS pro-tune... made 275awhp

is there really any good reason we can't run an aggressive set like that? like, is there something different that would keep us from doing it?

Cold starts for me right now are a bitch. The car doesn't want to idle, even with the 3651s. I'm chalking it up to the cold sparkplugs (for boost) and my tune at this point in time.

hmmm i ran cold plugs for awhile and have 630's, and never had cold start issues -- makes me wanna throw a set of cams in so we can see if its your tune or the cams (or a combo) giving you issues.

another question - my understanding of the purpose of cams is to allow more fuel/air into/out of the engine by lengthening/shortening the times the valves are open/closed. (though im not sure about that, its not something ive looked into much, and which I'm still learning about)

but given that that info is correct -- wouldn't we need tunes for our specific cams to see any real gains from them? I'm more on the side of chip tuning (for now) but even I can see a problem with a generic tune for a cammed setup...
