Ok guys i need some help with a small problem that has just arrised in my B5 S4!!
For the past week that i have been hearing a strange noise coming from the front of the car...after taking it to my guru mechanic..lolol..he informed me that my shocks were gone!!!
Since i wanted to dump the car next year its fine..the only problem is that i wanted to do it next year and right now my budget is limited since i just purchased the car about a month ago also bought a awe boost gauge, forge diverter valves, cross drilled rotors, etc!!!

I was told that i could get some coilovers from vmaxx or tein for about 700 CANADIAN dollars!!

The question is...are they any good????
My brother has a 97 rx7 with tein coilovers and he loves them and another buddy of mine has the vmaxx on his 2007 gli and he has no complaints!!!

In order for me to buy them i need to know if u guys(s4 owners) approve of them!!!

    Thanx for the help!!!!

    Re: Exhaust!!!

Wait. What does this have to do with exhaust? Lol.

I've heard mixed reviews on VMAXXs, some people love them, others argue that they use the stock spring rates and make for a shitty ride.

if you want to 'dump' the car in a year why would you spend money on coilovers? do it if you like wiping your ass with hundreds, otherwise just get some bilstein struts and call it a day.

    Re: Suspension

the only reason why i wanted coilovers is because its snows like crazy here in toronto and i plan to drive it in the winter so with coilovers i could raise the car and in the summer lower it !!!

sorry about the spelling guys!!!Some people are 2 perfect to read posts with some spelling errors!!!!

I had to read every post and think to figure out chocks was shocks. Proof reading is your friend.

I have no personal experience, but I have heard nothing but good about Tein products.

oh sorry i misunderstood you.. when you said 'dump the car next year' i thought you meant sell it, not lower it.

don't spend $700 on Vmaxx when for a couple hundred more you could get Koni or Stasis SS

    Re: Suspension

raising and lowering your car is going to drastically change your cars alignment and as a result affect freeway driving characteristics (making it less safe) and tire wear.

I would leave it stock unless you want to spend $100 on an alignment twice a year or just get a winter beater.

my car is lowered pretty good on neuspeed springs and stock shocks, and I have experienced nothing but good with them. If you get a good alignment after doing the springs, your camber shouldn't change taht dramatically to affect your highway driving. I've only had to get 2 alignments, both from mechanics at Audi error. One of them drove too quickly over a speed bump and bent a control arm somehow, and one just didnt align it after doing suspension work. As long as you get it aligned every time you change your height, you should be fine.

do you have a print out of your alignment specs from before and after the alignment was done?

    Re: Suspension

I have Tein basic....I like them...I have it at the highest setting right now...and still lower...with Tein...you either get lower setting or slam...but if you are talking about raising it up for winter....you won't get the stock height...and I don't thing the Tein basic will hold up at the track if you plan to track sometimes...

    Re: Suspension

just take care of your car and wash it.. and they wont sieze..

maybe before you put them on put some anti sieze on the threads as well..

but like i said.. take care of your car and wash the underbody ever so often in the winter and you shouldnt have a problem.
