    Couple Questions from the n00b

    Bought an 06 a4 2.0 with TIP.

Tired of stick, so went with that choice and im happy with it.

    1) On my first initial check the rad and oil lights are disabled any way to enable them? should they be enabled?
    2) Any way to reverse the tip so that upshifting is down instead of up and vice versa. And also if its possible to make my two buttons on the steering wheel(bluetooth and mode) shift for me since I don't have any functions for it. Wondering if anyone has done any modules for this.
    3) Dice ipod adaptor, can I still use the ipod instead of the wheel controls and vice versa... will it work with the iphone? best mounting point for it?
    4) looking at the awe exhaust, don't really like how the tips stick out so far, are the tips adjustable?
    5) I know coilovers are better. But how rough is the ride with HR springs. Want the lowered look but don't feel like spending $1500. I had eibachs on my eclipse and the ride was shit... don't want the same thing but really hate the wheel gap.

That's all for now. AZ has answered all my other questions. Might do the CC mod but hate dealing with bumper removal and baking. Might wait for this mod when I change out the grill and reflectors. Do it in one shot.

Cars debadged already, left the quattro.
Rims need to be changed have the stock 16's, just destroying these tires so I can get better ones.

Just going to do some minor body stuff. The front fangs and the lip spoiler and valence bumper trim. That black plastic is horrible.

Might chip her but I never have time for the track just spirited runs around town on the weekends.

    Tinting the girl on friday.

    Cheers.

    1) Press the check button on your console and see if they work.
    2) Not to my knowledge.
    3) You can use both the wheel or the ipod. It also works with the iphone, but only the music playing functions and i believe it doesn't charge the 3g. Phone use still requires bluetooth package. I mount mine next to the radio and it's perfect for me:

shoulda bought an sline for the paddle shifters as youre stuck with your auto the way it is. why get an exhaust but NOT want to get chipped? exhaust gains are tiny in comparison.

yes, you can add an sline steering wheel with paddle shifters. you'll need access to a VAG Com to recode the car so that it knows it has paddle shifters.

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! That was full of win.

OP, to comment, I just want to make sure you're aware that AWE exhaust has some loud drone at 2-3k rpm, the average cruising RPM for the tip (especially when you're it in S instead of D). There's another thread about a guy who wants to Dyanamat his car because it bothers his passengers so much. I've heard positives as well, but overall drone from exhaust really gets to me; especially if you crank the stereo, it ruins bass tones in songs when it drones at a pitch close to the music.

I did see the AWE rep who posts on this site mention they are going to try and reduce the drone, plus they'll be coming out with a quad-tip soon - I'd wait for the result of their efforts/the quad-tip, go with a different brand now if you can wait, or chip it first like the others are saying cuz you'll notice more power gains from that.

Best of luck with your new tip!

By the way, does anyone know what it would cost to do that S-line steering wheel conversion?

The ride on the springs alone will not be as bad as your eclipse...for the simple fact that, your not driving an eclipse anymore... ;)

However, it will be rougher than stock and not AS nice as coils. Alot of people do it though, so its not horrible either.

Saw the above post just as I was editing my 1st one - also, keep in mind that the stock struts/shocks will go bad in the near future if you just throw aftermarket springs on 'em. Basically, you can spend $500 now, and then that $1,500 for CO's later when your shit's ruined, or just spend the $1500 for springs now (that price seems high unless you're including install fees, by the way).

I don't think anybody answered your question about the tips. They are adjustable so you can let them stick our or tuck them in. Stasis exhaust tips are also adjustable (the two look so similar). I had a Miltek on my B6 S4 and the tips were adjustable so I would assume they are on the B7 too but I'm not 100% on that.

Re: Couple Questions from the n00b

that would be sick if you could change the tip around, like SMG in BMW. It makes more sense since the bodies inertia is going backwards during acceleration, thus shifting towards the rear, and during breaking shifting towards the dash because the bodies inertia is going towards the front of the car.

Depends on where you get the parts. The wheel is usually $300~400. The airbag is the expensive part. Check out ebay and the classifieds.

I know sandspeed has an s line wheel for sale for $300 I think. I bought the DTM s4 wheel from him, and would def recommend.
