I'm pretty sure its a bad ground somewhere or blown fuse / relay, any ideas other than mine?

Why'd you scan in generic OBD2 mode? Maybe some VAG-specific codes you can't see that will help figure out what is wrong if you check DTCs stored in the engine control module.

"theskuh" just had the same codes come up and it was a fuse.

I am the one who scanned it, Not sure how to use the Vag com system entirely. Just fuddled with it and got it to a point where I could get it to scan.

It was the 4 one up in the middle row on the bottom of the fuse panel. I can't remember the number.

What caused it to pop?

Actually it didn't pop, When I checked there wasn't a fuse there. For the life of me I can't think I ever moved it or took it out. I am hardly ever in the fuse panel. But I must of or the fuse fairy got it.

cool thanks, we'll check these out, and hopefully get this stupid CEL off... how was the car running for all of you? Our avant runs fine

If you open up Vag-Com you can hit "select" (big button upper left) to pick the control module you want to scan or hit "Auto-Scan"(big button top row, middle) and scan ALL the modules.
I haven't ever used Vag-Com to scan the generic OBD2 stuff, I'd imagine it works like anything else. The absolute basics and that's it.
