Windshield replacement costs?

No glass on the insurance. I figured it out once and I would probably brake even or lose money on the glass policy.

$225 total from one place. So even if I take the inspection off I am still saving $70 or so.

They will take off the inspection sticker and stick it back on the new windshield. The sticker won't look new but why waste money on a new inspection.

im not absolutely sure but i think it just has to be registered. Im not a permanent resident here but they told me it had something to do with the state and insurance. i didnt have to pay anything out of my pocket.

Thats steep! I have the parts manual/costs for my 06 A3, and the front window cost through audi is like either 220 or 240 if I remember correctly, and thats for an OEM direct replacement, shouldnt be more than 220 installed through a glass/window repair shop. Just keep looking around. Yellow Pages work good for this.

Same for Massachusetts.. it may have changed this year though, seeing as how they loosened up the restrictions on insurance companies. In MA insurance companies have (had?) to include glass coverage, so it wasn't really free.. I'm sure they upped the price a little for everyone, like $20 extra a year.

I'm in the same boat. I just called around to almost every local shop and got quoted $200 as the cheapest and $300 as the most.

The...free...W/S is state law in SC. Insurance companies must replace broken or unsafe windshields with $0 deductible due. Full coverage/Comp/Collision required.

I thought you guys up in Vermont only needed a serviceable windshield when the weather's not warm.....

if its oe glass from audi sounds about right, I got mine for around $200 installed and oe here was around $400. My original windscreen I liked more tbh.

I have a rock hit right in front of the steering wheel I want that gone as well. It has been there since I bought the car from the original owner in Mass. He tried to get it covered by insurance but they said the spider was too small. it was between knickle and a quarter size. They came out and sealed it. Itd is also beat up after 8 years. Lots of pits from them dirt roads and horse trails up around these parts. lol.

So it is time. My inspection is way overdue so I just want to get it all done now that I don't have any CEL or ABS beeping flashing lights. I probably have to swap out to my other set of rims becasue I don't think these tires will pass.

I was thinking it was moose related haha. Ive got a w/s full of little chips and pits you can see when the sun hits it, oh and there is a half dollar sized ring, not completely around caused by who knows what, but its on the passenger side. I try not to follow dump trucks full of rocks.

here in Florida you just call you rinsurance and they will replace it at no charge. i did it a couple of times when i had my 2g eclipse

honestly, if you can get some industrial grade urethane and a window removing knife, you can do it yourself. i'm saying this after going through 3 cars with broken windshields. you can pull the strips on either side straight up and same thing with the strip at the top. then you move the plastic rubber piece at the bottom of the windshield. then you cut under the windshield, all around it and it'll come right off. clean off the old urethane and install in reverse of removal

Yeah I am not messing with it. The glass company is coming to do it while it is at the shop on Tuesday getting aligned and inspected. $225 total.

I hit that number and stopped calling. It went $330 $295 $260 $225 sold.

personally a windshield isn't something i'd cheap out on. find the best shop and pay them what they want. it will still be 1000 less than audi. i paid 350 for mine by a shop in SF recc'd by audi, bwm and merc dealers.

I'm looking to replace my windshield as well. Safelite's quote was $200, but said I might need extra parts ($65).
For $265 they will come to my driveway and do it.. I think that's a pretty decent deal.

Make sure it gets done on a dry sunny day. The adhesives they use need few hours to cure and could fail if they get wet.
