it might make it easier to get to the top 2 nuts on the down pipes though and its only 3-10mm bolts,2-10mm bolts on the ends of the Y ,2-hose clamps on the dv's and the spider hose and done. make sure you plug the tubes in the car before you go removing anymore so shit doesn't get into them

not to sound like an ass, but why the hell for a job as big as downpipes would you care if you had to remove the y-pipe or not? in the time it took you to make your post it would have been off.

I'm askin cuz I have my car on jacks already and exhaust off...and before I took the downpipes off I checked the DIY docs and came across that one, and didn't make sense to take the y pipe off and coolat tank and air box when the dp's are alla the way down.

The Jerbal will call me a hypocrite (a la front coilpack method) but spend the three minutes removing those things to save 20 minutes of contortion and cut hands.

Re: I'm removing my downpipes: Do i have toremove the Y pipe as mention on this DIY w

Yeah, you have to take off the Y-pipe, move the coolant res out of the way, remove the MAF and accordion, and move some of the spider hose. Even then it's a pita to get at the driver's side nut.

3 10mm bolt that hold the Y pipe, 2 hose clamps that hold the Y pipe-to-inlet connector hoses, the PCV valve, and the accordion-to-Y pipe clamp. That's it.

LOL, HYPOCRITE! Even with the Y pipe removed, you're still going to have to contort and cut your hands to get at the driver's side dp top nut.

Removing the y pipe takes less time than it did for you to make this post.
