Euro Wheel installed and I don't miss the MF buttons at all!

Alright, I decided to toss on my Euro wheel and see if I was going to miss the multi-function controls. Well, I am pleased to be gripping my Euro Wheel once again. I find it easier to put the car where I want it and it looks beautiful.

Anyways, I wanted to say that it's totally worth losing the controls for the feeling that this wheel gives the driver. I don't miss the controls at all.

I also have a spliced harness, that I no longer need, that will allow you to install a Euro wheel into your B6.

Dr., first, thanks for the compliment. I really loved my color until I saw Tysons new Ibis RS. I so wish I had a white car over mine as most of the cars that I have owned in my life have been white and it's my favorite color. White really pops!

Forgot to ask, I seem to recall these won't fit in a B6 S4. Is that correct?

This wheel came off my B6 S4 and there is a write-up on on of the forums on how to accomplish this. I think that I can figure it out again but need some time to think it out. The airbag light will turn off but who knows if it will deploy when needed. I have the harness in the garage and can deal with it over the weekend if anyone is thinking of doing this mod. The price of the wheel has skyrocketed. It's now about $1,500 for the wheel and airbag. ouch!

Anyways, it's really great mod as it's something that you'll notice everytime you are driving.

2. Left most push button controls DRL - on or off; Right most push button controls coming home feature; i.e. controls if fog lights come on when doors are locked/unlocked.

You can change that with VAG-COM reprogram...

Just did a test on my way home for lunch. I turned this to on, when i lock or unlock the doors.. no exterior lights come on. Am i doing something wrong or is there more to this system? haveing the fogs on for a minute would be awesome at night.. i have a trailer and a few garbage / recycle bins to navigate through until im in range of my movement sensor to turn on the yard lights!

i did this mod to my b6 and was the first mod to the rs4.... ive never looked back. the stock steering wheel feels like im controlling a boat

It's part of the "ambient illumination" system. If memory serves i had the same feature on my b6 s4. If you are equipped with it you should have something in your owners manual - possibly under coming home/leaving home feature.

Got it from the guys at The Gallery Miami. It was a pretty sour business transaction that only prevailed after numerous threats to dispute the entire charge with American Express. The end result was that I got the wheel and the airbag after months of lies.

Yes, as far as I can tell, it's the RS4 bag. I think that it's about $1,500 from GMG. It ain't cheap and it'll sting, but you'll eventually get over the cash outlay. Holding the wheel will never get old.

The controls that are on the Euro wheel will work once Chronic comes to the rescue. The guys at the shop lent out their cable and can't help me for a few weeks. BTW, Eric, I'll try to swing by the GTG tomorow night after work, if it ain't too late.

FYI, the controls on the euro wheel are:

S - to toggle the sport feature on and off.

Set - does what the button on the bottom of the right stalk does, toggling between #1 and #2 on the display and resetting.

+ - does wht the up button does on the right stalk.

- - does what the down button does on the right stalk.

The buttons lost are:

radio station rolling wheel.
button to toggle between the radio and phone.
voice activation
radio and phone volume.

"I drive the car and it's not my office" was my reasoning for the mod.

I agree, i'm totally used to the Euro wheel after having it on for a long time now. It's actually much more convenient when driving long distances because you can easily scroll through the trip computer and other little DIS goodies with the buttons on the wheel. Actually, just the other day on a long trip, i discovered that the DIS can be changed from nav info to lap timer to avg speed/km left in tank with the push buttons all the while you are using the navigation trip computer for planning your route. I couldn't do this before with the normal steering wheel. So there, you actually have MORE options in some areas with this thing ;) haha

An update on this. So i turned on the coming home feature button and tried locking / unlocking the doos but the fogs / back lights never came on....

Just found out why! Turns out if you lock / unlock your doors in daylight the car know you dont need lights to see where your going! I went to the resteraunt tonight, walked in it was daylight... when i came out it was dark. When i unlocked the doors BAM fogs and tail lights came on!!!


These cars amaze me! the difference between buying American and German are all these little things that add up to a kick ass car!

Since it's not a daily driver, I can live without the ammenities, but i get what you guys are saying as it took me 6 months to mow the mod over.
