    GTRS turbo and HFC?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have done a light search and really did not fid what I was looking for. I want to get a bigger turbo and was contemplating the k04 since i could use a HFC. Can i use a HFC with the GTRS for emmissions purposes? I have a test pipe now and the wife is complaining about the sound. whats the best price for this setup? I plan on staying with revo and possibly doing the install myself. I'm also debating on whether im going with a FMIC or keeping stock and just goiing water/meth. Funds are little low right now so im working ona smaller budget.

    Re: GTRS turbo and HFC?

For what its worth, I'm running a fully built 2.0L stroker with a HFC. I had the HFC on my 1.8T with a full GT28RS and it worked fine.

Being you live in NJ (and right where I grew up), I highly recommend a FMIC with a larger turbo like the GTRS.

I can do the install and/or help you install everything if you like. My September and October are fairly open as of now.

I would think the OE cat would cause too much backpressure since is not a "high-flow"

I have a 200cell cat that was custom welded into my downpipe by ASP (part of their GT28RS kit).

So I guess I'll have to install a resonator then, if I use a test pipe or HFC. I hope my exhaust won't be too loud. Thanks.

It is a federal offense to run a test pipe, it is also a federal offense to run a HFC. Same fine either way, might as well run the test pipe.

Never heard of someone getting busted for a test pipe/ HFC. Here in Quebec or anywhere in Canada land for that matter. No emission or inspection required, but anyways I like how you think!

    Re: GTRS turbo and HFC?

Thanks for the response. More than likely I should be able to do a FMIC if I get the GTRS but was consodering the w/m if the budget really got tight.

As for the test pipe, im just not feelin the smell that im getting while driving/ or idling. Atleast with a HFC I can cut down on the odor a little and hopefully pass emmissions.

Who do you guys recommend getting the GTRS kit from?
