    245/40/18 or 235/40/18?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm getting the VMR RS4 reps in 18"/8.5/et38. Which size tires do you guys recommend? Tire rack says go 235 but I don't see what could go wrong if I go with 245 the circumference difference is only 1.7% which would throw off the speedometer by less than 1 mile@60 mph.

So what do you guys think am I missing something here or should I just go for the 245s?

    Re: 245/40/18 or 235/40/18?

i am running 18x8 et35 with 245/40/18 and had to set rear camber to -2.0 to avoid rubbing on the fenders. to avoid any issues, i would go with 235. is your suspension lowered?

I am running 245/40/18 on an 18X8.5 wheel. I have had 235/40/18 in the past. The 245 are very nice they fit just fine and you get more meat and shoulder room on the wheels.

The sidewall of a 245/40/18 compared to a 235/40/18 is 3.81mm taller. You can probably do any. 245's are no problem, you just need to watch our for side wall height.

I have 235/40/18s on 18x8.5s; i would go with those, especially if lowering.

i don't think i updated since i got it raised... i think i'm at about 25.5 front and 25.675 rear. i now only rub with full passenger load and an extreme dip.

with 235 i could've stayed lower without rubbing or having a lot of -camber.

i think with the stasis at street height you'll be ok with 245.. at aggressive street would be close.

i only suggest 235 cause i don't feel like i got any benefit going 245, and then when lowered it made rubbing something to worry about.

    good luck!

Sorry to bring this up from the dead but I'm want to get this setup too. I was wondering if you would need spacers to get the flushed look.

Flushed look depends on the width and offset of the wheel as well as tire size.

what are you planning to run?

if you have +35 offset you won't need spacers.

Depends on the wheel width. 8" ET35 wheel will not stick out as much as a 8.5" ET35 wheel.

I run 5 mm spacers on the rear wheels only with 8.5" ET35 wheels and 235 tires for that "flush" look.

Strictly from a rolling diameter perspective, 235/40/18 is a closer match to factory size than 245/40/18.
