    radio and climate control broken?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ok so I just took out my radio to change it. Now after I put it back in the fuse blew. I replaced it and still won't work. The fuse on the radio is good.

Also the climate control went dim. And then off. and now it won't go on at all. It's fuse is good

I'm confused now. Anyone have any ideas for me to look at

Re: radio and climate control broken?

Start by checking every fuse in the panel and under the dash. Sometimes auto electrical systems do really weird things. The amplified FUBA antennas do some strange things to radios too. It could have shorted there or something.

I should add it's a pioneer deck. Aftermarket. And the amplified things gave been bypassed. Is there a way to test the climate control to see if it is broken or not

Re: radio and climate control broken?

Is it grounded to the factory wiring harness? Does it have the correct adapter for the amplified antenna? These two are a major source of problems. The head unit needs a dedicated ground (dash subframe above your right knee is perfect) and if the antenna adapter isn't correct it can feedback and cause all sorts of random electrical problems.

Re: radio and climate control broken?

I'm using the best buy adapter. I have the right antenna adapter too. Although the ground is going from the radio to the factory ground. Should I move that? Also any idea about the climate unit?

really it's hard to tell but like onemoremile said check everyfuse, sometimes it could be something that you're not looking for. Also do you have your owners manual? there's a full listing of the fuse applications in there. moving the ground shouldn't be an issue in this case i would try multimetering your wires (acc/const.)to see where you're lacking 12v.

MOVE THAT GROUND. The head unit needs a dedicated ground. The way VW and Audi do their grounds can cause all sort of problems.
